hi guys. I got my '05 e60 525 msport a few months ago and now I need a weekend toy.My e60 is stock to the bone and I'll be keeping her that way for comfort sake. I was suppose to buy a post-facelift e60 but I went for a recond JDM model e60. Buying the recond 5er means that I've 'saved' around 100-120k so now I'm looking to buy a sports car to drive on the weekends and the first thing thatcame to my mind was an R34 GTR V-spec II but my wife prefers the M3.Now I can't decide which one to get. Both cars are roughly the same price. Help me out guys with some pros and cons. Tq.

Better listen to your wife... she will shower you with much love when the M3 is parked at your garage. :top:

are you going for a track once a while. if not (in my opinion) take the m3, it is more subtle to ordinary use compare with the "muscle car"

if uts a weekend car,

whack the GTR man, it rocks... but driveability, the M3 wins. up to you, flashy loud, or subtle roar...

The GTR is a beast, no doubt about it.

If you already have a nice 5 Series, why not go for the GTR, if it was going to be an only car, then the M3 hands down IMO

well e92,

not to show off but having both of them..different league is wht i can tell.
If Performance car is wht u're looking for to eat some Porsche for breakfast, GTR has definitely got the potential for you.
M3...emm, is a great car i would say. Totally balance but u cant do much if there's a GTR at the back of you...cheers!!..:)

Thanks for all your input guys.

Strider, I plan to take whichever car I buy as often as possible to the track after some appropriate mods that is. I love the track. Damn how I miss Batu Tiga.

Agree with what you said JKay.

Tony, it's nice of u to have both the cars, but I was browsing thru the GTR.co.uk forum and saw your 34 in there, with the nick jlck. Is that your brother's car or yours ? I'm confused. Whatever it is, It sure looks good.

I'll be going to take my friend's GTR for a test drive this weekend. Will let you all know how it goes. :smokin:

e92,

my brother was the one who posted all those photos in gtr.co.uk though...and u know wht, i might be trading my M3 for the V Spec II Nur and sell off the Vspec at home too ;)

tony, thanks for clearing that up. If you dont mind me asking. How much is the V-spec 2 nur setting you back ?

Also, is Links Power a good workshop to send a GTR to ? I always see so many nice Jap cars there.
Are they expensive ? And most importantly can they do the job well ?

e92,

no prob bro. The Nur is asking for around 330k but will offer me a good price for trade in, have not visit them yet.
As for Links power, i can assure tht Mr Kee is a down to earth fella. I used to own a workshop called SpeedD in Sunway in which we specialised in GTR and Evos 2 years ago, and since then Links power is ok to me. Dont mind me telling, they were the only workshop who's not stopping to learn from the Thais from my workshop.
If u were to get ur GTR to Links, try to look for Mr Kee and mention Tony from SpeedD said u can give good deal, i believe he can sort u out for sure..:)
anyway, my cheif mechanic from Bangkok will be back in KL soon in Sunway also..along the road opposite Links power. The shop is called PowerCube due opening end of this month. A good fren of mine is bringing him down to KL again, in which i will visit soon!!>..cheers!!...;)

thanks for the reply Mr.Tony.

Oh you're the owner of Speed-D.
I heard lots of good thing about the Thai chaps from Speed D.
They have come out with amazing drag machines. High powered GTRs and also Supras.

I don't really have much knowledge in cars.
The basics is okay, but I don't know the specific parts.
Would you care to tell me roughly how much would I need to
spend if I want a reliable 600hp GTR ?
I don't want to get slaughtered out there by paying a ridiculous amount of money
for something that costs a lot less.

How much are you looking at for your R34 v-spec and the M3 ?
Is making power from an M3 something hard to do ?

Thanks again, Tony.

how bout this? & M always on the top :p

Unfortunately the E92 M3 can't even beat a 15 year old stock Supra.

The price of the M3 is always on top, that is so true.
