Hi all Sifus,My ride is a E46 325, 2001 model. Clocked abt 150K km. While driving last night, i realised that the 'engine' sounds weird especially when I rev. It sounded 'wheezy', no more the bold creamy purr which it normally does. Everything else was normal. This morning took to workshop, the guy said that my gearbox oil pump is leaking. Need to replace that which will cost RM2K+. That was his initial assessment by just listening to the sound and saw leakage. He said he needs to take out the gearbox and hopefully nothing else is damage, otherwise will cost alot more. And changing the oil pump will take 2 days approximately. This is the 1st time I repair something to do with the gearbox and am really worried about this. Any sifu out there care to give any advice or share similar experience on similar situation?Appreciate any feedback. Thank you in advance.

Bro, maybe you can ask for second opinion from others workshop too..just to ensure your udm problem.

Hi Alex,

Well I do trust this workshop and had been with them for years. So unlikely to get 2nd opinion, but want to know what are the things to look out for in situation like this.

Thanks for your feedback.

I also trust my main mechanic but sometimes they also give wrong diagnosis..not intentionally but a sincere and honest mistake. So I agree with Alex. No hard seeking for second opinion as the repairs bills may be on a high side...

If u need an original 5hp19 ZF oil pump. . I got 1 for sale. . . Avoid those China made oil Pump. . . My contact no 0122207630. . .Tq

If oil pump prob, better don't drive the car to avoid severe damage to your GB.
The humming sound that you hear is due to ATF too low.
