E46 found water in the engine, pls help!

Hi all Sifus, Kindly advice me when u found water in the engine, I sent my car to check due to low water signal always on and keep on fill in water for 2-3 times weekly but can't find the leak, so my mech found the water mark on the engine cap (it's look like milk water). So they advise to do top overhaul and cost around Rm 3500-4000. Another mech suspect is oil cooler gone, but I will send my car to check on comingmonday. Anyone of u face this problem b4 and can share together. Tqvm.

Is your E46 using N42, ie 318i 2.0 ? If it is, then it gonna be a top overhaul especially if u see water or milky in your engine. Other than your engine cap, you can try looking at your dip stick. My friend's 318i 2.0 also had to go thru it 3 weeks ago. But 3500-4000 for top overhaul for this engine is expensive. It should be about 2600-2800.

Its definetly overhaul. I have a friend who have spare engine if your looking for 318 1.9 engine..his name is MAN 0129255809 and he`s a mechanic feel free to call him..maybe he can advise a little bit on what to do cheers

My car model is E46 N42 318i 2.0. Oil dipstick oso found stain on top portion of stick. This is the symptom I found on my car.

how did the coolant get into the engine? I only know coolant can get into gearbox if the ATF oil cooler rosak
