Got offer from used car for E46 323 1999 fully converted to new facelift (m-sport) selling at 78K.Do you think its a good buy?

appreciate for any advice...

:dontknow:

yes there is a big difference in the power of the 323i and 325i...i had a 323i before and found it quite sluggish...had the ecu remapped and then was ok but not up to the 325i..in my opinion go for the 325i if you want power..otherwise the 323i is a good car..78k is not a bargain price..its market advertised price

also bear in mind that the car is a 1999 model and expect the associated maintenance works which will have to be carried out..

regards

If I proceed with 323, how much you think I need to spend for the maintenance work ya? Just estimate...

I like the car becoz the previous owner has upgraded the interior and exterior. 78K still negotiable, what price should I ask ya?

try to get some sort of service record..then you will know what is the extent of maintenance to be carried out..if there is no record then i suggest you keep at least 5k reserve for initial maintenance and repairs..after that regularly maintain the car and it should not give much trouble..

as for the price you can bargain further and depends on how much you want the car..

regards

Test drive both and see if the difference matters to you. To me, I would take the 325. Cuz later on if regret, cannot (or very difficult) to change the engine already. But interior and exterior mods? Those anytime you can do yourself.

P/S incidentally, i DID take the 325 :)

Bro, it depends on the condition of the car and no matter how good a person is, you cannot tell the problem by just test driving the car.
check with the seller what are the things they have replaced. take the car key to BMW and check the mileage. go to realoem.com and check the VIN number.

From experience, these are the common things you may replace for the first 1/2 year.

1) Hoses
2) Belt tensioner
3) Belts
4) Bushes
5) Radiator expansion tank
6)Thermostat
7)MAF
8)Camshaft sensor
9)Mountings
10) Brake pads and disc
11)Absorbers
12)Air filters
13) Aircon filter
14)Power steering oil, sump/filter
15) Brake fluid
16) Engine Oil
17)Oil Filter
18)Hopefully not the gearbox
19) Cooling coil
20) Aircon compressor
21) Gearbox oil cooler

Both my friend and I got 2 325i at the same time, year 01 and 02. for the first 1/2 year, we spent about 15K-18K on wear and tear parts.excluding other accessories.

Just sharing my experience with you.

Cheers.

Umm... in the E46, I believe the 323i only has 170 bhp. In my view, go for the 325i.

E46 323i is using M52B25, 6 cylinder inline DOHC 24v single VANOS petrol engine. 2.5L 170hp@5,500 rpm

E46 320i is using M54B22, 6 cylinder inline DOHC 24v double VANOS petrol engine. 2.2L 170hp@6,100 rpm

E46 325i is using M54B25, 6 cylinder inline DOHC 24v double VANOS petrol engine. 2.5L 192hp@6,000 rpm

I believe the feel different due to throttle cable & drive by wire thing. It also depend on the car condition & how much power do you want. Its better to test drive & feel whether you like it or not.

Used car willing to take is 150K but must trade in lar. The used car that I deal with only got 318 M-Sport, 520 E39 and 323 E46... so I have to find other used car dealers...

Yup E90 320 really dissapoint me. The car ride & feel is good. I feel better than E60 but that 4 pot engine really a let down. (no offend to E90 320 owner) At least they should put M54B22 engine. Or at least 6 pot 2.0 engine. By the way which 323 you test/see?
