In response to an earlier query on radio internal setting, following is my input. Do fill in the blanks or correct me, if I am wrong. To get to the setting, follow the following steps:1. Turn off the radio,2. Turn on the radio and press the "M" button until the display changed,3. Use the "+" or "-" buttons to scroll down the following settings:- SV39-98 41 - ? Not sure, Serial Number I think....- GAL - Speed sensitive volume increase. Each volume increment shown is the change (increase) in system volume as the speed increases by 10 Kmh above a certain speed. 1-Lowest 6-Highest- DSP 1.6 - Digital Sound Processor setting (only for models fitted with DSP sound system. Not applicable to most of us in Malaysia- TP-V - Traffic report volume, this is the increase in volume whenever a traffic report is being delivered by some radio stations (but not in Malaysia I think) and the TP setting is ON -9-Lowest +9-Highest- AREA - Region Setting for radio frequency. ECE-Europe US-US CAN-Canada OCE-Oceania/Asia pacific- AF - Automatic Frequency search, when you press the up or down buttons or the "+" or "-" buttons in serach for a radio station, in auto mode, the radio will look for the next avilable strong signal but in manual mode it will go up in small increments until you stop: OFF=manual, ON=Automatic

Abang Saat,

Tried your suggestion but mine is a bit different from yours. Mine only have 3 of what your have stated.

1) Serial No.
2) GAL 1-6
3) DSP 0

Nothing other than that! Don't think I have the Area ECE.

Will you be coming to Fri TT in Shoru? May be I can show it to you.

Ha! Ha! Got my tuner fixed today.

Went to Accessory shop and got them fixed a frequency booster on my tuner. Walar! Everything works well.

So, whoever that encounter similar problem, go to the accessory shop and get them fix your problem. No need to change your HU.

5series, your radio now tune beyond 90MHz

when you tune to 92.9MHz, is your dash reading (display) also 92.9MHz?

No! The reading still remain from 70 - 90 MHz. However, I fixed an 16 MHz booster. Thus, whatever reading on your HU needs to add 16MHZ. Eg: I got my Light & Easy Channel (105.7MHz) at the reading of 89.7MHz.

well, is this really the best we can do other changing the whole nav-tv HU?

is the reception on your main stations good? do you get cross-frequency
problem on any of the main stations 90.3, 92.9, 105.7, ....

the booster is installed behind the HU or in your changer/tuner compartment in the boot?

how much did it cost you?

thanks for all the info.

I guess that is the best solution at the present moment for me (anybody has better suggestions??)

According to the installer, radio frequency in KL is not that strong. Hence, you may get some cross-frequency at time or certain area. Among few boosters that I have tested, the 16MHz suits the best both in coverage & clearity.

The booster is in a size of match box & is fixed behind the HU. It is quite easy to fix & take out. No major cutting of wires required.
