E39 PDC Front and Rear Not Functioning

Hi All,

Need advise from member.

My 2003 e39 525 come with front and rear pdc sensor all are not working.

When I engage reverse gear, there is a long beep (10 Seconds) and the PDC button light keep blinking.

When I press the PDC button, just a long beep sound.

I tested all the sensor with hand on the sensor and I can hear the "teck teck" sound.

What could be wrong and any workshop to recommend for a check.

I stay at area Ampang.

As for both your PDC & aircon problems, suggest you go to WP Auto @ Pandan Mewah and look for Albert. Use goggle for exact location and contact details. This workshop is also frequent by our members.

For PDC sensors, all 8 must work. If 1 doesn't work, the whole system doesn't work. Diagnostic will easily pick out which is the faulty one. The PDC light should be on and not blinking.

I believe they can. For more than 13 years that I had known him, he & his boys will always put in the effort and time to sort out our car problems. But we have to be patient and give him the time too. Many members here can attest to his efforts to problem solving and even some peculiar ones too. His staff are friendly too. You can easily jell in with them.

Many mechanic advise me to seek "wireman" to check the steering wheel multi function circuits for remedy.
Do you have his contact number for me to ask him about my problem ?

I changed the old E39 steering wheel with 4 spokes squarish to E46 3 spokes roundish without touching the slip ring.
May I know who are the well experience workshop to look up north, I am residing in southern JB Skudai.

What year manufacture is your car? Did the multifunction work before you changed steering? Are you looking to come to kl to fix that? If so, you can go to vixx customs in batu caves, the mechanic there is pretty knowledgeable regarding these models.

1) 2001 April E39.
2) Old steering wheel multi function buttons are all not working.
3) Yes, I am prepare to go KL if any one there able to fix back the multi function steering features.
4) Can I have the contact and address to proceed to vixx custom Batu Caves workshop ?

Well ,two things :
1. you ori e39 MF steering was probably not working due to what Haywire mentioned.The clock spring was probably faulty.The clock spring consists of a coiled up length of ribbon wire that connects your steering wheel buttons to the car.
2. is the e46 3 spoke steering wheel compatible to the e39?yes it may fit but the car may need coding?I don't know.This you have to confirm first.

Thanks for your advises, I am not sure about E39 vs E46 multi steering wheel compatible or not, I shall check coding.

E39 and e46 steering wheels are identical and compatible, no need coding.

Only thing thats different is single stage or dual stage airbags, and if its the wrong one it wont fit without modifications.

Hi, Bro haywire,
The mechanic who replaced my old E39 4 spokes to E46 3 spokes steering wheel did mentioned about "double" stage airbag before changing, but he couldn't rectify the faulty multi function audio & cruise control features.
