Can't stand the bug any longer and decided to upgrade my E39 ICE set-up from standard. However, it revolves around a simple passive set-up of front comp and sub with 2 amps powering the speakers. The Components, 7" CDT Eurosport Competition Series  This speakers, come with a different Crossover unit which is bigger than the normal one. The Italian amp, that's gonna drive the Comp.Celestra VA250 (2 x 50 watts rms), Want to go for the VA210 (100 watts), saddly no money:20: will have to make do with this mother@?!!er. The fabrication to the door. It involves, fiber fabrication as the component is a 7"and I dont want to lose out or drill the original speaker cutting on the side panel Sound proofing processThe original black soundrpoofing is taken out and kept, as dont want to cut or tore it up. The process is still ongoing, will try to update for fellow ICE lover Once completed

Original look. Connecting wires to Ori HU

Fabricating areas for the Sub placement and the Sub enclosure, just gonna use a10", but enclosure cubic size will be enough to ensure bass sound is adequate

Thus, still have to go the upgraded HU routehttp://img221.imageshack.us/img221/5229/hujt7.jpg HU selected, Nakamichi 500 not the 700 as wish for, not enough moneyla. This is where I put the HU, custom it in the glove compartmenthttp://imgcash5.imageshack.us/Himg72/scaled.php?server=72&filename=glovecompuq2.jpg&xsize=640&ysize=480 I still use the IPOD for easy listening, as the line in is using the Naka HU using the Naka processor to give better sound production, and still able to use the original steering command to up/down volume and change track.Only when I listen to the HU for serious listening that I need to use the Naka remote control to access.

HU.. at the moment still using the original HU with IPOD Dension ICE link as I hate to lose the original look. Still discussing with my Installer on how to go about doing either a fabrication replacing the BMW Business Cassette with a Naka HU or Sound Monitor.. so it will still look original (will not lose the wood panelling, once uopenthe panelling only you will access the HU) still unsure whether it can fit as the Cassette Deck casing/Business CD casing is quite thin.

maintaning the HU is important if u consider selling your ride later on. get a cd changer if u got a billion cds and the ipod connector seems more than enuf to me. just get the cheaper ipod classic 160gb then whack in more songs than u can ever hear

nice project.
question: does the front door provide enough air volume for the 7" CDTs? What I am afraid is the boxy effect from the original door panel design.

I took my HU out and replaced with a Pioneer P80. The ori HU is still with me in case I need to part with my car one day....

Hmmm, I likey that part when you need to part with your car one day....:top:

But how does ur current E39 set-up compare to your E36?

yoke,
you doing ur car at a shop at tmn. bahagia behind the LRT station and bought the amp from the shop?

Too bad I sold my nakamichi CD700MKII with the naka 5-disc changer with the belden digital coax cable - otherwise would have asked you if you want it.

Just my suggestion, don't touch the ori HU but put the naka HU separately somewhere....

Yeap, at Lau's la, where else for Fiber fabrication, he did offer me his Naka at his showroom, but the price seems a bit steep for my liking.

Hmmm :39: .. sounds interesting. Where should I put the HU, in the glove compartment? If it's in this compartment, it must be a changer, if not quite difficult to reach and change cd.

Mount upwards on the centre console, below the dash on the driver side, however it may hv physical contact with your left knee lor. OR, if you don't mind, mount under the driver seat....

Cant do it under the seat, as all the electric seat thingy interfering. Decided to put it inside the glove box, although difficult for me to reach to change CD etc, it will give me that clean and uninterrupted look.
