Hi guys,Instead of eyeing for e36 325i, my fren told me to go for early version of e39 523i/528i :106:. Wat do u guys think?

depend on your budget, 5 series is bigger body and heavier, but also present a different class compare to 3 series even the engine cc is same. If you want fast and easy.. maybe 3 series 325 is great.. but if you want a more executive with matured presentation, you shall go with 5 series. Beside E36 will be much cheaper than 523/528, so, it is really up to you, if you are someone over 30/40 definitely 5 series should considered if your budget allowed. Hope this help.. .

E39 528i, that's for sure.

The E39 2.8's road handling ah, betul betul tak boleh cakap loh! Once tested you kena gum chap gajah, that's for sure.

hi mr leong it wld be very grateful if u cld introduce yourself 1st in the newbie yeah cheers

Fuuuuuyyyoooooooh this award winner Mr Bailey really want to maintain his award for next year, by looking at current situation GUYS it's difficult to makan him..now he's becoming like in the movie TOMB STONE
But i agree wit him Mr Leong..must intro yourself 1st in the newbieszz section...

Yeah bro his targeting for Jantan Kabaret Malaya Award next yr yeeeehaaaa:smokin:

Yup... most probably I will go for 528  . After having done a lot of net researching, the only set back factor for 528 is the yearly road tax. But, hey, that shouldn't be the stumbling block..

Anyway, thanks for all the advice. My search for a good e39 528 (circa 96/97/98) is on.

Of Course 528i. Don't Test E39 528i Because After You Test It, You Won't Fall To Other Cars Untill The Next 528i.........Hehe!~~~~

Or 530i???

Hey, I should know, I turned down a new e90 and a 523 e60 coz my 528i is just soooooooooooper. BUT, you have to make sure you maintain it well. Change what you need and work out with a trusted mechanic on a a 6 to even 12 month programme to change parts systematically. Also allows you to budget better and ease cashflow.

kind of agree withu guys..

tested 2 e46 328 and 2 e39 328 today..

but I think that I will go for e39... coz spacious, nice interior and powerfull.. I think better go for comfort car rather then show off car.. hehe

I prefer uk spec coz nicer interior (beige colour) but some says not good coz
can easily karat.. is that true ??

Guys,

After months of searching, finally I landed myself with a 96/97 528i (in late Mar 08 - a bit slow to update). Was pleased with the condition of the car as it has only been driving for abt 104000km. The engine is the smoothest among many beemers that I have test driven. After the payment was made, the owner took a crash tour of the car & testified that the milage has never been tempered. Was advise against any immediate oil changes, etc. except a new set of wheels. Immediately changed the tyres with Yokohama C-Drive (Don't know how good they are)

So far, I've driven my UDM to JB once & was pleased with the performance, etc. Haven't got the opportunity to take to any mechanic yet. Perhaps, some recommendations from fellow forumers around Pandan Jaya/Ampang would help. Hope to join TT section either in JB (weekdays) or KL soon. Photo of my UDM for sharing. Comments are welcome.

After a long search and help from the forummers , its good to see you finally making the right choice!

Congrats mate!! Take more photos under better lighting conditions, and dont forget the interiors as well :)

eyethree,
For reliable & reasonable pricing BMW Specialists, you could try WP Auto in Pandan Indah (Albert Fang 012-2017792) or BM Works, Taman Industrial Bolton, Batu Caves (Vasu 03-61862006)

p/s: by the way, how much did you pay for your Yokohama C-Drive, is the size 225/55R16?

Jerman,

Thanks.

Yes it is 225/55/R16 & I paid RM1600 plus alignment & balancing. So far so good, after traveled more than 2000kms.
