Been thinking of doing this for a while ... so here we are. Am looking at the evergreen E39 for a while and since the year end is almost here ... :) Here are a couple of versions in mind ...E39 523i - Single VANOS / 96-98 / CKD or CBUE39 523i - Double VANOS / 98-2000 / CKD or CBUE39 528i - Single VANOS / 96-99 / CKD or CBUOkay ... I've got a budget of approx. RM 150K max and am looking at either of the above. Of course, considering my current ride, the 528i makes a perfect replacement. Have been looking at a few cars ... nothing firm yet.Need your help / input / feedback on what to look out for, possible problems to be addressed and yes .... the running cost. My ride will be a daily driver ... currently clocking in about 2800-3300 km a month. Using my current 328i as a yardstick, what sort of running cost am I looking at - usual wear & tear plus misc. parts to consider. And unlike my fellow brother who's looking at a E38, company does not pay for my maintenance and etc ... WJ, thanks for your PM buddy - will ring you up one of these days to chat further. Appreciate your help here, fellas.Cheers,

Get the 97 CBU 528i and save the moos for replacement parts. They way I look at it is that whichever E39 you buy, parts are due for replacement sometime and once replaced, it'll drive like a dream so why spend more on a newer model with the same fate. Keep the 40k extra for ICE and the maintenance kitty. Can't go wrong. Believe me, you won't like the double vanos cars unless it's a 3.0l. The E39 is a heavy car and will not launch the way the E36 328i goes so you will need the 280NM of torque to help.
