Anybody have experienced replacing their engine ecu unit? Here is my question Is there anywhere/workshop here that we can replace with a used ECU without having to buy the whole set meaning inclusive of the transponders, keys and switch. What I know if you are replacing with a used ecu you may require programming to your current setup ie transponders, keys switch etc.

No need just need to replace the ecu. Some workshop can pair the ews to the new ecu. Call this number 012 949 7800. His name is Ahmad. He send his e53 to pair ecu and EWS before. He got the workshop's number.

tweiboon, I know buying a new ECU you can get it to match to the existing car/engine. But are you saying replacing it with a used ECU you can do the same at this particular workshop.?

err, is the ecu that u're referring is the DME? i think it can be paired with the ews as i've seen few cars did that.

Yes I believe so.

Here is the update. I have since change twice on the ECU with used parts and on the last change it persisted once. So I insisted the workshop to reinstall my original ECU. On top of that they clean all the contact points and since then there was no arising problem and now back happy driving and enjoying the carpet ride. No more Engine Failure programme...yhoooooo!!
