My friend have a 2011 320d LCI (184hp), His engine suffered from a broken crankshaft resulting in the short engine requiring replacement. Can he get a F30 short engine as a replacement as it is relatively newer and lower mileage.
I note that both the F30 and E90 LCI has the same engine ie N47d20c (184hp) but engine part number is of course different.
Can an engine conversion into the F30 be done with a simple swap? Or the ECU will not be able to recognise the short engine?
I have heard different views on this and was wondering if any of you have such an experience?
