It does not make sense to me to use plastic, with a shorter lifespan, instead of metal.
Whether plastic or metal, I am going to forget to change anyways. At least w metal, due to longer lifespan, the frequency of failure is less. So far, in my 130,000 km of usage, no failure yet.
I'd go for titanium impeller pump if they made such a thing...
In any case, whether plastic, or metal, do watch your temp gauge regularly. If it flickers, pay immediate attention. When in doubt, CHANGE the relevant parts. The cost is far cheaper than the risk of an expensive overhaul...
