Halo All, Just done my alignment & while driving ....steering feeling loose...and also when drive thru uneven road...car tend to move aside & have to re adjust the steering back to position.. Any ppl facing this and what is the possible solutions. Tq for any input

Probably cause by a poor alignment job. Maybe they left a fastener loose or the camber is not symmetrical or they made your alignment worse! Go back to the shop and check before you have accident.

have went back to the shop to check....he says all alignement ok, but truely i got this feeling only after the alignment...it is either a lousy job done....

try a different allignment shop... if it was a bad job, let others know and it'll also warrant you to return to the first shop to screw him up!

bro, not all tyre shops can do alignment for BMW's. I have come across shops who gives me the uncertainty face when i ask them to do alignment. I reckon u to go to reputable tyre service centres.

Might be the steering rack also, check it out, it will set u back 750 for a used one.

guys,

just came back from workshoplah......changed all mounting , tyroid arms, long shaft coupling, brake pressure hose...mounting somelthing like tat.....hope the drive to be better.....all cost ....> 1k...

Was initially thinking of selling tis baby....now ahhhh

Hope that fixes your problem, but it seem like a hit and miss solution by your workshop...change everything that might cause steering pull/drift and see if the problem still there.

Can't comment on your alignment shop and workshop, but my friend are you sure they're good and can handle BMW? Luxury cars need mechanics who specialise in that marque. The good ones are usually ex-C&C, AB, FA, etc.

Anyway, unless the chassis has been bent by an accident, no need to sell your baby. Steering problems are just a component problem somewhere and once isolated/fixed/changed it will be alright wan. :)

I had the same problem.......turned out it was the lower arm bush.

primacon,
hows ur car handling now after the RM1k damage??
hope all kau tim..
actually it could be from one /combination parts fr the suspension set up.. (or tayar botak too during raining), such as absorber, tie rod or coil spring or bushes.. a good bmw mechanic shld be able to identify that.

my xperience with the swaying feeling is due to abober kaput.. cannot take the road unevennes oredi, absober kaput oso can give the clunking sound though..

Had This sway feeling for a few months this is what was done.
1. Lower arm bushing changed
2. Absorber changed
3. Tie-rod changed
4. Rim bengkok, repaired
5. Tyres changed
6. Allignment

The main culprit was the damaged rim. Did that last, most tyres shop could not detect the problem, did a rim refurbication job and found out that the rim was off. Cost of Rim repair was 500. Now my rims look like new and my car feels like a BMW once again.

Hi!

Okay. my E36 325 seems a bit hard to turn the steering.

Normally when, we make a U turn and just a corner, the steering will automatically goes back to it original position (which is center) but mine, i need to tyrn the steering back in order to make the car to go straight.

can someone advise me on this issue.

where is a reliables place to fix this problem?

Bro, have you checked your alignment? Most of the times this is caused by alignment issues, not only on Bimmers but all cars

yeah - send it over to the Tyre shop and they ask to bring over to the BMW workshop to find out...

can i know where is the best place to inspect it around KL?

can anyone let me know? and could this be very expensive?

can some sifu advise me pls.

thanks
