for those that changed 318 to 1jz with jpj endorsed please share the cost you did. Really interested in this TQ.
i saw some post stating that absorbers also have to change. So just halfcut also not enough, never to mention the piping works to intercooler.

I think you need to prepare at least min 10K for the non VVTI transplant. Then the upgrading cost will be = UNLIMITED

we are sharing the experience that from M50 to 1jz... since the original engine is old we need more $$$ to maintain ori... instead i just spend 1 big $$$ with new Head that serve me since 3 years no issue at all.

now, only spend RM95 Shell Semi-Sync + oil filter RM23 + labor RM10 every 5KM service..

Hmmm, bro i think you mean 5k KM. :burnout:

The unlimited part sounds scary. Upgrading that u mention here is mostly on performance parts or parts that is essential just to make the car drive smoothly?

I must admit, these 1jz and 2jz engines are really wicked! plus they work really well when merged onto a BMW correctly. Whether it's E36 with 1jz or E32 with 2jz, it's still pretty impressive. Can't say it's better than the original BMW engines, but they are quite comparable in many aspects.

say just wondering, i now have a 328i n i m thinking of downgrading to a 1.8 or 2.0 lit, any recommendations beside a bmw engine. any other model engine that is compatible to the 328i??

What i get from my friend E36 coupe 318is convert to 1jz auto non vvti is, only use complete engine + gearbox + wiring to ECU and complete intercoler pipping that came with the halfcut. All brake, suspension and stereng rack, crossmember air cond condensor, radiator are all remain original E36. 1jz wiring harness will kawin at 2 big socket near fius box. All interior like meter cluster, gear lever are remain. And when u look from inside the cabain just like normal E36.

Hi bro. He's done plenty of conversions on all types of vehicles. BMW, Merc, Jaguar, etc. But the most extreme was a 2JZ on a Prado while still maintaining the stock 4WD!!!

Engine mounting same. Speedo and tacho all using the original bmw meters but wired to 1JZ. Only thing not working is the liter/100km gauge as this is calculated by the bmw ecu. Gearshifter also ori. I like this mechanic because everything still looks stock inside after the job is done.

I have done my conversion on my e46 318 to 1jz vvti, but the only thing bothering me is the sppedo metre and RPM is not working coz the mechanic do not know how to do, can you introduce me your mechanic overcome this matter? thank you.

The meters should have been connected... mine all working except for fuel economy meter. Will PM you my mechanics number and you can deal directly with him.
