Here's my another problem.I'm using 255x40x17r tires at my rear wheel. The problem is, when the car fully loaded with passanger, it will hit the fender only at rear right only.So I checked the clearance for both wheels, and what I found, the tire on the left have nice clearance that enable the wheel going up and down, but on the right side..the tire will scrub the outer fender thus resulting the irritating noise. So the question is, your e34 have same problem with mine ?I've seen e34 using 265 tires on BBS ...and that car have no problem touching the fender....Inputs are appreciated. Thank you.

I think it's the normal problem of RHD BMW tilting to the right. Maybe if passengers you should increase the tire pressure?

It should be be rubbing on one side and not the left side. When was the last time the shocks are being replaced. It could be that the shocks are work more on one side than the other.

As for fender rubbing, it depends on the offset ET. For 17 inch rims the ET should be ET13 and also depends on the width of the rim. You said using 255/40/17 and the fenders are not rolled before, then it appears that your ET would be at least 13 or close to it.

Have you check that the rear bump stops are OK ?. If you are bottoming out, the bump stop should limit the suspension travel. If it has been cut or is disintegrating, then it would not limit the bottoming out.

You should be using 235/45/17 tires becuase that is the factory spec diameter to ensure that your speedo is accurate!.

Rdgs.

my ET is 20.5 ....both front and rear...no wonder it scrub the wheel arch....

Roll up the inner side of the Fenders bro....

both my 7ers...one with 265/35/17..and 255/45/18...had to roll!

The lower the numerical number offset (ET) the closer the rim is to the fender lip.

For such wide tires you need a slightly higher (greater numerical number) offset......like 23-25.

Spacers will not help you since they lower your offset.

Also, 235/45-17 is a factory recommended tire size for a factory width rim or 8" x 17"..........nothing will change your speed compared to indicated speed unless you change the overall diameter of your wheel. 255/40-17 is probably the closest for that wide of a tire (9" right?).

Your best solution, and easiest is to just roll your fenders. I've seen it done with baseball bats, hammers, or fender rolling tools. Perhaps you should use the latter ;)

I had to roll my rear fenders once I put the Hartge's (that you sold to me) on my E30 cab.

Good luck!

Any mechanic in KL/PJ area can do such thing ?

I've asked the shop nearby my office, the solution they provide is knocking the arch manually.....

before u go any further. it may be worthwhile checking your camber. mine is rubbing on the RHS as well. Rear right camber was only 1.0.

naza

Can my rear e34 chamber adjusted ?

i'm just thinking to use baseball bat DIY technique.

bandar sunway michellin shop..
whaaa..........?you mean we really do have the fender rolling equipment here...... :p .

Bazet...e34 camber tabley adjust lar.you already have extra wide tyres.get the fender rolling lar......mine's rolled oledi.....by the PO.

To help reduce the kangkang stance, try changing the track link aka dog bone....not cheap for a stoopid small piece of metal with bushings...rm 140++ a piece.I notice a slight (+10mm)difference in ride height upon replacement.

Err can u tell me what exactly what it is ?

bazet.. as mentioned, camber can't be adjusted unless you changed to an eccentric bush.

anyhow, rolling the fender sounds like the better choice, since the only way you can avoid the rubbing is by setting the camber to something like 1.8 or more.

i'm experimenting on other options. will let u know if it works.
