Are any of the pipes on the trailing arms crimped/pressed ie any sign of reduced fluid flow?

Did u service the brake calipers before installing them???

well, i've pushed them all the way back to remove remaining of the old fluid and they moved with ease. I don't think its anything to do with calipers. I am suspecting breakpads, rotors and break hoses. Which i'll be changing soon, hopefully.

Good question. I don't think so, but will need to climb under the car and give it a good look first.

mr. kgb...let it bake in for a while, say about 300kms as the set up you are using is used parts..
if it does not run in by 300kms, then time to buy new pads and disc.. my discs are still the same since new with 3 pads change and they get better.. oh yes, do use the ori bmw pads.. much better and no squeal..

Speaking from experience, the brake caliper service kits don't cost much, it's better and SAFER to change them. U don't know how long they have been in use and how long it's been sitting idle in the chop shop... Even though rear brake failure is not as bad as front brake failure but still better to be safe than sorry if, touch wood, SHITE really hits u hard on the head...

I don't worry as much if the car doesn't go as fast, but if it can't stop faster than it goes, u can end up in deep SHITE... ;)

NOTE: the last time I bought the caliper service kit, it was RM35/caliper. Labour about RM100 to change the O rings and seals.

Service kit consists of the necessary O ring and oil seals.

And not sure how much is the new calipers.. probably 4 figure, since used ones go for 200-300/pair...
Rotors should be about RM200-250/pair for rear brakes.

Thanks to advice and poison on this thread, i could not help myself but to get myself the following from Jalan Ipoh: New Rotors rm95 each. Caliper repair kit rm45 each. Break pads rm110. Break hoses rm45 each. Handbreak shoes rm110. Total: rm590

will DIY in the near future and post some sexy pics soon.

aaaaaahahahahahha KGB exposed.

You should have taken a pic after i've had a proper haircut, this e30 takes too much of my personal time

Anyways, installed new rotors and break pads. But rotors seem to overhead on both sides, will have to open up again and give it some adjustment. Anyone suggestions on why they overhead pls do share. Break pads are very tight to fit, was hoping it'll self adjust, i guess i was wrong (hand break pads are fine, its the rotor pads that head things up).

Shining like a holly grail!

BTW, break performance is about the same, but of course, it will take time to run in, one way or another, will have to take calipers apart to fit new rubber rings and clean the internals, after that do a proper bleeding and hope that breaking will improve in due time.

Wow..so were u ex kgb ? hahah. nice diy.

i am as good as ex now... many thanks to Vixxx...

Anyways, solved my break overheating problem. Next step is to service the calipers and replace break hoses.

And most importantly, i am yet to feel improvement compared to drum breaks. Lets give it more time...
