Guyz...so what is the best thing to do to the car if I want more power out of my m40? It seems to be very sluggish since I changed my stock to 16". The handling has improved but it compromises the acceleration. It used to do 10.x secs but now i think easily 11 to 12 secs. It could be the tuning too.

I have been contemplating of searching for an m3 engine, but after hearing the costs, balls also shrink la. no money for that. And what is this about having to redo so many things? I want an NA engine because I believe it takes corners better than turbocharged ones.

Any advice?Thanks

Kev... you da man..

did really took your advise and done suggestion no.1.. although there is no dramatic improvement in horses, do really feel the pull especially in third gear..
now waiting to do up suggestion 2,3,4,5,.......

MTek1318,

Bro, glad that u are enjoying it! Time for me to 'tweak' your CO again methinks.......................hehehehehehehe

Hi kev, why don't you write about your "chip" conversion? Somehow me got interested...

Yeahlah Kev,
I think so too... when can arrr? Wif you leaving HB its like meeting the PM..

The performance chip is still under development. The chip 'developer' has given me several variants to try out and we are getting close to what we want from it. I shall publish my findings in approx 2 weeks time.

MTek1318,

Bro, next Fri TT can ar? After tweaking we donut your ride ok?.......ekekekekeekekek, BTW, still waiting for news on the BBS ok?

Bro,
After I did the small spin wif ur udm nearly 2 weeks ago,I told u ur machine feels much better...to be honest,it was close to a 6-cyclinder pull but u said no  .
Tapi hari-hari I jumpa u...u tak cakap pun u happy wif the clutch fan removal...till 2day,I come in the forum and I see it myself...hai brother...brother... :dunno:

Anyway guys,
Just to add on to kevsters suggestions, try changing the fuel pump relay to a siemens. There's another 1 brand that starts with K..... fr Germany...not really sure of the name but this does improve a bit on the acceleration...Tried and tested on an E30 M20B20 :D

sorry arr ... i think we are going off topic....
back to the earlier question.. care to eloborate???

Use a 3.5 bar pressure regulator! And change the fuel injectors, replace them with those from M50 engines.

Bundy, r u talking about the little Bosch fuel regulator sitting on top of the e30 m20b20 thermostat? :)

I think so. Higher fuel pressure will give you better low end torque (pssst pssst fuel consumption will increase slightly). Change the injectors as well, newer injectors with better spray pattern will improve atomization and hence better combustion.

I would advise threading carefully here. This may not be a simple plug-in mod that realises instant performance. As a comparison, I have used a 3 bar fuel regulator with 55# injectors, running a 2.5 litre turbo engine to great effect. Net result is 420 hp at the flywheel. But the switch to different injectors with an upgraded fuel regulator may play havoc in your fueling especially when you're still running the standard AFM.

End result is usually clogged plugs and a hesitant engine due to non-optimum air fuel ratios.

But of course if Bundy has had success at this mod, perhaps its worth a whirl.

For optimum results, what you need on top of this is a MAF kit and a programmable ECU. And so the racun begins....

Haha...that would be nice to have the ECU remapped. Well, I am just suggesting to use injectors with similar flow rates, if not mistaken about 17lb/hr. Replace it with the ones from the newer M50 engines which can be bought cheaply and easily from the chop shops. M20 and M30 engines use a 3.0 bar pressure regulator (similar to the M50B20 whilst the M50B25 uses a 3.5 bar regulator). I supposed for cars with an O2 sensor, it will self-adjust the injector opening interval and hence the AFM ratio (to a certain extent, up to 3000rpm before the loop is open?). :)
