2cents, mine changed due 2 reasons.. steering coupling all gone and the other, my rack was leaking like mad.. to repair/change will cost me RM1450.. so by doing the conversion.. i get better upgrade and cost me Rm1300
now fast u-turn and better turning radius.

I think Pussy mechanic or Zoggee's will be able to help if they can get the right parts. Its not really a direct swap. Depends on you engine as the coupling will be in contact with the headers upon turning. Therefore you will need to fabricate a coupling. As for the formula for the fabrication I will email you. So please give me your email. With that it will be a direct swap.

What are the improvement or advantages?
1. E36 racks - easy to find anywhere.
2. Turning radious as TJ wrote is much better.
3. No free play. I hate it when i turn my steering & the car still goes straight? This is the remedy. Very good if you wanna track it.
4. Steering response will be more direct - Which is same as No 3.
& last but not least ITS BECAUSE ALVIN done it, Pussy followed him & did it, Kaki Puchong also did & still is smiling bout it.
Muahaha ha h ah h ah haha h ha ha!!!!!!!!!
Now i'm charging for all the R&D work! I'm open to be bribe! heheheheheh

alvin,
sent u a pm.
i never knew it can be done in Malayaland ....only seen them over the net
by the way, did u fit a heat shield to the coupling?
i think fitting into mine shud be much easier coz its an M40 only.....A LOT & LOT of SPACE!
i asked around and it seems E36 rack is cheaper than E30 aluminum ones!!! good reason to do it...
M20, M40 and M50 are the engine range..Originally posted by iCe@Aug 4 2005, 10:49 PM

it is the 2nd best upgrade if you get ur hand on a E30..not the exhaust, not he chip...not even the engine.
wanna know whats the best ....
ask me how I know... B)

mebbe it's time for you to change the metal U joint coupling (big money here).....or have the rack rebuilt or better still ingest the racun.Originally posted by 535i@Aug 3 2005, 03:30 PM
But E30 M40 is famous for the 'free play' not so much with the M20 though ..
Hv changed the rubber thing countless time .. sama aje ..
