dashboard/instrument cluster light

The backlight for the instrument cluster just died.....presently using my eveready flashlight to see how fast Im going and how much petrol I have. Was thinking of getting a Surefire for better brightne....... ....but seriously folks how much to fix and whether is DIY-able...thanks!

Jipster, once you sort out the fuse or mini bulbs, consider getting one of those coloured dials lah....quite changgih looking....hahaha.... :lol:

Bro Jip.....

If the fuses are okay ( they are in the engine bay - the box near the firewall, passenger side )....then you need to remove your dash board - to change the bulb(s)...

It will need removal of your steering wheel 1st ( steering lock disengaged ie. ignition key on 1st step ), the kick board, 2 thumb screws, 6 screws ( philips head ) and 2 electrical connectors.....sounds like complicated but after one time doing it, it will be a breeze.

I actually removed mine for a small re-solder job today.....complete removal & refitting of dash unit takes abt 10 minutes each way.

If you need hand, call me but am sure many sifus out there can do this with their eyes closed......

btw, buy the replacement bulbs 1st okay.......buy a few for spare.

Yes, you are rite - wrong choice of word "dashboard".....the term instrument cluster is more correct but a small part of the dash panels do come out.....
