Where do I find key cutters that cut BMW diamond keys? Went to a few keycutters and all said they dont have the equipment to do it.Preferably close to Bukit Damansara or Kepong area.I already have the blank diamond key with the transferred internal electronics from the old key.

haywire, some BMW key are cut on the outside like type "C". This can be done any locksmith shop.

Type "D" required laser cutting, I was told. Try PM Alex5522. I know he have duplicate a key before.

Mine is none of the above (but blade design is similar to C and E i think)

This is my type of key.

hi. can I know how you transferred the internals over? is it an easy DIY? any equipment such as solder iron required? sorry if I jumped your thread.

I used a Dremel rotary tool to cut the key from its side. you could use a knife but it will take ages to be separated apart.

once open the electronics inside is not held by anything, so just take it out and put it in your new key.

In mine I found out that the middle switch (bmw logo) on the board has fallen off so I had to solder it back on, otherwise you wont need the solder iron.

the replacement blank key that i bought is held together by catches so i can just pry it open easily.

i found that my type D casing is very horrid looking. thought of giving it a new case so that the key looks new. how much would a replacement cost?

i bought mine from ebay uk at about GBP6 (RM30) when i was still in the uk. be careful about the blade design because there are different types when you look for yours

Until Now I still havent found a key cutter that can cut my key. Tried calling Alex5522's contact but he is in Banting and its quite an effort to go there. Furthermore he says he only cut 'snake cut' as the Type D above.

Anyone know if there is a key cutter that can cut my key in KL/Damansara/Kepong/Selayang/Batu Caves area?

This is my exact key type.

haywire, what is the frequency of your key?

Not sure, I dont have the key with me now. I'll check on the back when I get back home.

Haywire, the key cutter i next know is at SS2 PJ main road..on of the bungalow houses converted into a shop

call andy at 0123307080, he is also a BMW fan...

uk should be 433 MHz iirc. my e46 328 is a UK cbu model and came with old design key fob famous for use of the special melting rubber. i went to this dealer to place an order for a spare but the guy said since button melted can't see unlock arrow direction so can't place order cos cannot verify whether 433 or 315. according to him, arrow pointing up means 433 and pointing down 315. need to go back another day when supervisor around for other ways to check... i told him mine's a UK car if it helps. he said that's not the way to determine remote frequency (??). had to make another trip to glenmarie but i looked it up to make sure that i get my key ordered the second trip.

erica, first time I have ever about the arrow thing. It is similar to the petrol symbol on the instrument cluster.

i remembered this bcos i thought it was simply ridiculous that's the only way to determine the remote frequency and pissed i had to make another trip. not sure whether what he said about frequency re unlock arrow direction is true or he just simply kencing me...

No bro, pointing up (to the key blade) is 315MHz, pointing down is 433MHz.
