i think kinaka was referring to a con-statement by a conman

hartge valve covers are not for sale without the engine

unless it was taken off a hartge engine, same goes for AC, Racing etc

Progress report.

Rust Shop: MX One - Located in Segambut near the futsol place. Price to still be discussed, but for just the undercarriage and interior plus double welding comes up to about 3200. Going for full body so might come up to 5k... but no official quote yet. Will update on that.

Mechanic: Going to send to Tedco in Segambut. Contact there is Rueben, know him through a friend. I don't think i'm going for buying parts separately though, cheaper to go for halfcut.

Half-cut: Nothing confirmed yet, but maybe even higher displacement. Everything also going through Tedco, so no headache sourcing stuff anymore! 3.0l? 3.5l? I'll tell when i can confirm something :D

Man it feels damn good to get going with my car, when things actually start happening it's the same feeling you get when christmas is around the corner (well, when we were kids anyway).

Total cost is going to come up to around RM14k - 15k for everything though, inclusive of new brakes & calipers and a 3.9 LSD, but that's without a good set of suspension... So absorbers, springs plus anti-roll bar and stabilizer bars is going to come up to around RM20,000? That's twice my original budget, have to borrow money already :p

Shit, if i can't outrun a wiralution after all this i'm going to kick myself... And if by some arse luck my car has a stability issue (like shaking over 160kmh) that can't be fixed, i'm going to get someone else to kick me. AND if i take the car to sepang and after 3 corners i see one of my wheels bouncing and rolling in front of me, anybody is welcome to spraypaint the words LEMON on my bonnet and then kick me in the balls.

Anyway, just updating for anyone who might care to interested...

Joyi,

Do keep your updates coming. Really enjoyed your progress and thought of getting another Beemer.....an E30 coupe but really not that soon lar.

Oh,by the way, what do you mean by half cuts?? I hope that its not the half cuts that I have in mind. Its pretty dangerous if it is what I thought it is. Please enlighten me. Thanks in advance! :yes!:

Heh, i know what's on your mind. In Singapore they actually used to have "Penalvans" that were two different halves of two different vans welded together. Nedless to say they have outlawed such things over there already :p

Anyway what i'm meaning by halfcut here is also literally a half cut car, but what is basically being done is that all the parts from that halfcut are being replaced into my car. No welding two halves together needed, he he.

Oh, and i'm overestimating at RM20k there, but that's just incase shit goes wrong.

Joyi san,

Is the above work with paint job....it must be right? I am also reading your progress with interest.....I plan to do my rust/paint thing by end of the year....may need your contacts.

Keep posting on this orait......and i wont spray paint or kick yr balls ekekekekekekek....

Yeah that is with paintjob. 3200 is just for the undercarriage (inclusive of labour, welding, anti-rust, cement, whatever lah). So i'm estimating about 5k if i'm going to do the whole body. Hopefully it'll only come up to 4k+, but i dont' know how bad a shape my car is in terms of the welding, the more they have to weld the more its gonna cost...
Also, i'm getting the car stripped at my mechanic first, so the labour cost should be considerably less. RM4000 is a good estimate i suppose.

Oh yeah, and i've been offered a dogbox transmission. Now, having such a thing may or may not be the best thing to have, as i've read. I guess the question is: Is it really necessary?
I'd really like some comments on this, thanks!

Dude ....dogboxes are expensive arent they?

If u still need to do other stuff I'd do those first. To my mind, spend money on the LSD..... dogbox can be sort of like finishing touch....

But overrated I think.... especially if yours is going to be daily driver..... a daily driver should be about balance...... BUT WHAT THE HEY! Its your moolah dude.... I 'm not here to tell u what to do with it :)

Lets just say it fits in my budget... :D

And i'm not one for comfort either, put it this way - my car has no sound proofing or heat insulation, so it's pretty noisy as it is anyway. I'm thinking in terms of drivability, i do plan to go to the track as much as possible, and if i can i go drifting on a daily basis. On these terms a "daily driver" for me needs to be able to take abuse... But like i said, i'm not sure what i shall do. I don't want to get a normal gearbox and after a few laps going sideways my syncromeshing is all gone, but i also don't think that getting a dogbox is going to help me solve this problem as you can also wreck a dogbox...

dude,

I dunno if dogboxes are supposed to be more durable then normal boxes.... but i gather that their ratios are more closely stacked therefore resulting in better acceleration....*blink*..... anyways, if u have the moolah - GO ON THEN!

Go get the latest Total BMW mag (i know rm33 ...ouch) this month there are lotsa articles about going to the track....theres also an article about a stock E30 prpeared for track ....engine stock but stripped out with cage etc...... good reading for your purpose I think.... good luck dude - and post up yr progress 'kay!

Eh, how the hell do you post pictures in this forum? Can't even read photos from yahoo pictures?

Fark it.

My Pictures on Yahoo

Basically only the engine, transmission and driveshaft are out. Interior and wiring and everything else should be done by wednesday.

I'll upload some pictures of my new workshop's place later. Lots of nice cars in there.

farrrrk me!...... looks like NEXT Car workshop .... maser, porsche, ferrari.....

Heh heh, yeah that workshop is really cool. The Volvo you see in the picture has a Supra engine, and is being done up for drifting.

The yellow Ferrari is being converted into a daily driver, it used to be a track car.

If anyone wants to go have a looksee, let me know and i'll give directions. Or you're welcome to come in a month's time when i fit in my new engine :D

volvo + supra engine = drifting?? ....... UTTER MADNESS!...... and i mean that in a very nice way

Gives another meaning to the "TANK".... who would have thot that the TANK can drift.... :D

The Volvo is also doing weight reduction, stripping everything out inside save two bucket seats and a rear... cushion. I'm actually quite interested in this project, hoping to meet the owner when my car is being done. On weekends he goes there to work on the car.

hi, i am curious to know how the process to deal with jpj for such conversion. i have just changed the engine for my e 30 and was told got to go for inspection, but i not yet cos afraid of problem with jpj. my earlier engine kaput due to flood water.
