Hi Guys,WTF... really bad luck today. Windscreen kena batu besar on Kesas this evening. Luckily did not smash the windscreen to bits... thank god to lamination. Anyway, got a small "bullet" crack on the windscreen. And my windscreen is a new one to boot, when I got the car!Have read somewhere once that there is such a glass treatment in which they can mend the crack and make the windscreen like new again. Has anyone tried this? If so, how is it, how much does it cost and where can I get it done? Really very distracting, this crack which almost right in the field of vision.Anyway, planning to change the windscreen when I next renew my insurance end of the year!Bah, before I can settle one thing, another cums!

The treatment only cost RM50 ....done me some months back already. U better get it done fast before the crack turn to a long or bigger crack or no cannot repair already. I think most acessory shop will be able to do that repair now.

They inject some kind of polymeric material into the crack so as to prevent the crack from getting long(or spread) ....sort of like a glue. And they let it cure under UV light for abt 15 minutes and wallah ok already.

From what I gather, such repair doesn't bring your windscreen back to perfection. Even afer treatment, the crack will still be visible (even though not as bad). The treatment only stops the windscreen from cracking further. If the crack is as serious as how you describe it to be, be prepared to forked out at least RM100 or more.

There's one next to Kanna Curry Hse in Sect 19 up the slope.

If you have time SHOP AROUND FIRST. The charges for this sort of job will depend on the size of the crack(s).

Try calling these numbers:-
012-629 6499

012-383 7598

or you can e-mail your query to this guy (Prasad). He was recommended to me by a friend who works in NST CBT.

prasad@k9mkt.com. He is a nice chap but nego on the price first before you commit yourself to the repair work.

TQ.

Gonna do the "repair" today. Will later post on the result.

The crack is not too bad, only that it is almost in line of my vision... very distracting lah. Also, do not want the crack to grow any bigger... when it is nearer the expiry of my insurance, I will then change the windscreen...

Repaired my windscreen last night. Done by Anthony of Mechanix (h/p 012-6168879). Cost - RM100 because it was quite a big crack. I am satisfied with the job :D. The windscreen is smooth again and the only sign there ever was a crack is the reflection of a small crack. No distraction in my line of vision... yahoo. Took about 30 minutes to complete the job. Best part, it was done in my house!

Thanks e21jbk. By the way, do you have a 328?

Good that you are happy with the result. I happen to own E36 328i Convertible..1995. Love it...

This is little that I know...

If the winscreen is crack.... and you want to fix it, then better go and fixed it pronto. The reason to that is , the quality of repair is very much dependent on the onset of dirt within the crack.

If there is no dirt, then the crack line will be almost invisible when repair. If the dirt is trapped, then the crack line will be visible even when repaired.

Cracked mine on the way Ipoh yesterday.
Got it repaired for RM 150 - there is only one shop here doing it so no choice eventhough I know it is cheaper in KL - don't want to risk the crack extending.
After repair, from the outside, it now looks OK - barely visible.
From inside, you can definitely see the marks - albeit smaller than before repair.

Yup, same with mine. From outside can hardly see but from inside can see the reflection of the crack... but I am satisfied with the work.

Lousy luck- my wife's car got hit by a stone on MRR on Friday resulting in a pin hole crack.
Called Anthony of Glass Mechanix and he came to repair at my house.
Charged RM 110 but he did a good job, can barely see the crack at all. Much better than the repaired windscreen in my car.
From now on, I think I will buy windscreen insurance when my policy expires.

What about chip in the windscreen. I don't consider mine as a crack but more of a small chip. Still it's rally visible from inside and outside. Where to do this, can this guy Anthony from Mechanix do it. Saw an add in Motor Trader. Dr. Chip or something in Puchonmg near the Tesco. Think of checking out. Any comments/feedback from other forummers or should I just call this Anthony. Need to repair this crack as I want to tint my car after this. Thks

I had a small crack. This Anthony guy did the repair at RM70. Good job except I noticed his charges are inconsistant based on the feedback of forumers. So, bargain with him . If the crack is not too big, I guess RM50 would do.
