Which Voltronic are you referring to bro?

Voltronic multigrade Touring SA
so far, the car is getting better by the day.
previously on my other E39 also, there is a bliond spot is acceleration.
hesitation u know....
now, it almost disappear and pick pu is quite quick.

i'm getting the same problem too. Considering to get a top overhaul.
Anybody had done it?

It could be just replacing the valve seal. It won't need a top overhaul to replace the valve seal. Need to find a workshop that have a special tool to remove the seal

Valve seal replacement require top overhaul? Don't think so ya? Just remove the engine top and replace 4 rubber seals only then put a new gasket and apply gum after 1 hour to let the gum/gasket sealant harden you are good to go. cost should be just RM100 for labor charge. Sifu please advice.

I think that is not replacing the valve seal. That sound more like replacing the valve cover gasket.

If u plan to top overhaul, replace the vanos seal too if yours is vanos engine.

Yup, replacing valve seals will require the special tool to realign back the camshafts as shown by astroboy post. Cam Cover gasket is the one referred to by anaksarawak in my opinion which can be DIYed.

i believe my n42 also with vanos, but not sure is there any vanos seal for this engine?
mosty those with 6 cylinder very famous of changing this seal..

If you ask around the independent BMW workshop , the quote will be from RM 2k to 3k.

RM2k-3k sounds like already angkat head, not sure changing valve seals can be done without angkat head because I went straight to full overhaul after open up my engine head last time.

My regular mech also quoted 2-3k inclusive of some o-rings / seals, valve seals and valve grind?

Yesterday just found out that my cam cover gasket was badly leaking on the spark plug dome.
Oil leak into the spark plug area...Plug no 1,3 & 4 were all flooded..
This might answer why my engine oil keep loosing this few days....hope its just that one...

For Spark plug 1 & 4 can DIY, but afraid that 2 & 3 is tricky as you need to remove the valvetronic motor unit and possibly the camshafts as well... :(

while you are at it, might as well change the vacuum pump seals and the back plate for the engine coolant. :)
