try doing a 120km/h duta turn and see if your rear 'swings' ? it could be your rear sub-frame bushes..

regards.

ok confirmed! in my case it is the rear brake pads. one way to check... reach the inner rear pads with your fingers. wiggle it around. does it make the same kinda sound? mine does. i guess the retainer spring is missing and thats where the noise is coming from. i'll make some kinda bracket/spring for it sometime next week.

did u check yours? is it the same problem?

naza2,

The brake pads are not the problem on mine, checked it out with my mechanic on Sunday.

Still looking....gonna check the trailing arm bushes and the drive shaft next.

Gonna try another round of experiments tomorrow.

Will keep you guys updated!

Guys,

Sorry for the late reply. I just solved the clunking noise. It was due to the rear trailing arm bushes which had completely disintegrated.

Changed that and now it's all good.....

Rear clunking sound!. If it is not exhaust hangers loose, sometimes it could be the pitman-arms broken. Yes, broken. These "dogbones" are clearly visible visible from the near the front of the rear wheel underbody. It had two large nuts attached.
The pitman arm is basically an aluminum alloy piece about 4 inches long about 3/4 inch thick with holes and rubber bushing in each end.

I have seen 2 broken dogbones in the parts shop. I must say I was shocked!. I raced my 525 in the track for over a year and mine never broke. only the sway bars made the annoying noise as they rebound slowly to their original shape. Only a few mins after I do a cool down lap when parked.

So these pitman arms do break!. When the rubber bushes are worn, it could cause the rear of the car to wander in uneven surfaces when you drive fast or slowed into a turn off from the highway.
