One of my front tyre prematurely 'botak' cos of some shock absorber issue (which was rectified) Question is that will there be any problem, if I only change the two front tyres which will be of different made/brand from that of the back? The reason for not changing the back tyres cos the threads are still good for maybe another 10k km at least. My original was Continental PremiumContact while I plan to change my front ones to Michelin Pilot Preceda 2. Views?

Just want to share my little experience, last time i got situation exactly just like you. After all, I can conclude that you can't really feel the 2 new tyre performance because what I made. I change 2 new tyre then test drive. After that test, I finally decide to put another 2 new tyre. You can feel the different. I used Dunlop Eagle F1. Dunno what effect michelin. hope can give you idea here for your new tyre....

as much as possible, try not to mix and match your tyres..

different tyres have different compounds, sidewall flex, construction..etc. using all 4 of the same tyres gives you the best balance and consistent performance. It might affect the way your car handles.

You have two choice here,

1. you can change 2 front tyres with a different brand/model from the rear or viceversa but make sure same axle use same tyre tread/pattern.

2. trade-in your rear and get all four same brand/model

Hope it help
