Hi guys/girls,Just want to share my experience of new michelin Pilot Sport 3....awesome and the brake respond is so good even in wet road. I just bought tyre repair kit at AB jalan ampang around rm680...have anyone use it before?? is it workable:cool: and they asked me to fill the liquid by myself. thanxx

hi mohdfarouk1977 .quick question ...what does the repair kit have ? if you have a puncture you are expected to tampal ur tire urself by the road ?

Im still using my RFT's ....contemplating what to do next when i need to change my tires ...
If you dont mind , could you let us know how much you paid for those tires ?

rgds,
dmi3

Hi dmi3,

I did ask from one of the technician from AB Jln. Tun Razak on how is the tyre repair kit is working...actually it is very simple, you have to put the liquid gel (provided inside the package) inside all four tyres and they do tell me that in the event of puncture the liquid gel will immediately & automatically fill up the hole...actually it is the same concept like tyre guardian but Im prefer to get a genuine and originally from BMW, price around rm680 and for the next tyre filling u only have to buy the refill liquid...

Actually it is good to use RFT...it is depend on how u want to spend it from your pocket, for me it is too expensive for the wear & tear and my micheline tyre is cost around rm600 per tyre....I can say now I feel my car handling is much more comfortable

I bouth Michelin PS3 18" for RM820 in s.alam recently.

ditch my 17" RFT for good. Now I do enjoy the ultimate driving machine

mohdfarouk1977 , thanks for the explanation .

1. The kit only has a liquid that you use when u fill air in the tire ...how do u put the liquid in the tire ?
2. how long does one tube of the liquid last ?
3 . what else is in the tire repair kit . If they concept is for the liquid to seal the tire ...then i guess there is no need for a jack or wrench . this kit has me really confused :p heheh

mesa-bokeh , everyone keeps saying the ride becomes so much beta when u switch to non RFT . but then again RFT's give me such a secure feeling :) ....sigh ...decision decisions....

Bro, I just changed to Michelin PS2 ZPs (RFTs) and I reckon they're as comfy and grippy as normal PS2s. I know Michelin PS2s, well having gone through many sets by now. Size 225/40/18 about RM1,100 and 255/35/18 about RM1,400, so a full staggered set for me was RM5,000. All at the highest speed rating too, Y-rated.

Hi Schwepps, if u don't mind me asking.... where did u get the tires from? Sounds like an excellent deal :)

I've PM-ed the place to you Whiteknight, but as I mentioned before, they're not necessarily the cheapest out there. I go to them for the personal service they give me. Confirmed that mine are made in France too.

If you work it out, at RM820 per PS3 plus the repair kit at RM680, that's already RM4k. And can you trust the gel like you can trust RFTs, especially at high speeds? Throw in another grand and you have the peace of mind of running on RFTs. I think life and limb are worth more than RM1K.

bro schwepps.. i think ur reasoning makes financial sense assuming we can get the prices u got ;) personally i'd stick with RFTs for the additional 1k.

others might still prefer to go with non-RFTs for the perceived comfort though.

thanks.

The thing is that I've used many sets of normal PS2s in previous my rides. There is no difference in comfort with the PS2 RFTs.

I'm using Michelins Primacy HP ZP. 1.3K per tyre for 17". I run PS2s on my 206 and I find the Primacy HP to be more comfortable, quieter and better wet performance. However, grip and performance in the dry is better on the PS2s.

Primacy HP is from the Michellin Green X range, so your assessment would be right. They're touring tires and would not only be more comfortable, quieter and better in the wet, but also longer wearing and fuel saving. I'm using them in our family Merc. The Pilot Sports range, being the summer sports tires, would have better grip and performance in the dry. But RM1.3k for 17-inchers is pricey hor?

Hi dmi3,

Collected my mobility kit at AB today, the parts kit inside the package is one bottle of liquid gel (last for 4 years), compressor to inflate the tyre and adaptors.

The bad thing is...the mobility kit is only to be used when detecting a tyre failure/puncture and the worst is the liquid gel provided in the package is sufficient to fill one tyre only!!!

I should get RFT laaa.....another RM1k should get the continental RFT...

ya, a bit on the high side. SC price la. I'm sure can get better price outside but since car under warranty, didn't want to risk it by doing the tyre change at normal tyre shops at the moment!

Yeah Farouk, I thought you misunderstood the AB technician. The mobility kit is a tire repair kit. Two things you should check:

- 4 years is the shelf-life of the gel, so check the manufacturing date of your kit.
- Test the compressor now, and fire it up occasionally. It's the weak link in these kits and it'll be a nightmare if you have a puncture and fill the tire with the gel, only to find that the compressor doesn't work. Then you'll have a nice uneven coagulated lump on one side of your tire.

RFTs are much better all round. Or at least an AAM membership - then you get a free tow to the nearest tire shop.

Ahmz, tires are not covered by the warranty anyway. You can change to any tires you want, anywhere, at any time.

hmm..let me get this straight .

for instance ... I start driving my car ...then i find a puncture in my tire . I stop . take out the kit . fill air in my tire with the liquid together and let the liquid seal the leak in the tire . then i drive on .

is that right ?

at that point not only do i have to go buy a new liquid tube from AB but i now have a tire that i might have to repair ...that dont make any sense at all to me ...

looks like im sticking to RFT'S . sighhhhh . BMW can be so high tech that it just makes no sense sometimes .

Like what Schwepps says, for ultimate safety and security, best use RFT, a.k.a. bullet proof tyres. You don't have other ways to safeguard against sabotage except RFT. Sabotage causes instance deflation, just like being penetrated by bullets but with RFT, u can continue to drive off. Its a small price to pay for protection of your priceless assets.. LIVES! or trauma of robbery!

Actually there's another way.. the VW Passat CC method. Prefill tyres with sealant but still vulnerable to side wall damage.. and Schwepps's regular tyre shop if not mistaken, is Lim Tyre at Tmn Tun.
