actually its not like that.what u need to do is buy a good one.like me i consider very unlucky.should check detail bout the car when i bought..

Hi ban,
If this engine cannot be salvaged, try get an engine direct from a half cut. Dont get the ones on the floor which they have disassembled. Look at the body of the half cut. You would probably get a clue or two why the car was scrapped. Check the oils seals of the engine you want to buy. If its still soft it may mean that the engine is still in pretty good condition. Get an honest mechanic to go with you. That hopefully will narrow down another blow up.

Ban,

I think u kena conned by the mechanic. U should banned the workshop:top:

banned?

yes i should.but the prob now is my car still under warranty n can ask them to settle the prob.but i just scare they gonna charge me somemore on changing the engine again.
any advise?

that's what i said earlier, change the mechanic...

this mechanic

ban,

If its not against the club rule, i think you should share with members here the name & contact of the mechanic. Probably any one of the members here knows this shop / mechanic close enough to help you out or at least clarify to you the actual story so far, so that we understand the situation clearly. There are a lot of sifus here who has a vast knowledge on e39 and can share with us for you and our benefits. At least you know probably u did not get a bad deal after all...or if you did...our full sympathy goes to you. At least we know not go to this mechanic and a lesson to everyone. e39 is a fantastic car, M52/54 is a gem. it saddens us when something like this happens to anyone.

I have seen this happen before, not to a BMW but anyways an engine is an engine. I remember the reason was when the 1st engine blew, there was a lot of metal fragment shit, oil, debris stuck in the intake maniflold. When they fitted the 'kedai potong engine kosong' the mechanic was lazy in the prep work wanted to turn around fast. Because thehe intake manifold, air hoses was not properly checked and cleaned before reinstall. The replacement engine only lasted 2 hours before it also suffred damage to the internals, scorned and valves all pitted etc all from the debris from the last engine. Of course smoke from the tail pipe adds to the drama. Perhaphs your case, the mechanic was also short sighted.
