M52 and M54 engines have different engine managment system, M52 is cable accelerator and M54 drive by wire. Also I would think single Vanos and double Vanos M52 are also mapped dfferently. Stick with the same engine type or else you will have lots of problems trying to get everything to work together.

finally

bought the m53 engine n tomorrow is the day.qiute nervous bout the result.i went to san hin auto myself n chech the engine.dunno much bout it btw but i already asked my mechanic have it checked.he said the engine in good condition n wen there twice.just wish it'll be good.comes wit 1 month warranty.

If ur car originaly is double vanos , u cant just put in d single vanos engine cos its will not working wit double Vanos ecu unless u buy a single vanos halfcut for conversion ....

actually wat if ur engine is not crack ....u can rebuilt it rather go for engine conversion unless u want to get higher cc or different engine .............

Mr. Ban...

i pity you for a load of troubles you are geeting into..

based on the advise of the members, you bought a M53 engine, that engine is a diesel engine.
it wont work on your car, engine and block looks very similar to the M52 engine, and for the price you paid, you could have gotten something better.

sorry, i had not the time to see your thread earlier, cos of the holidays, but there was someone with a engine block kosong he was keeping which you could have bought from him earlier.

btw, i wish you had a better mechanic, cos this one s*ucks... he should able to source for you the cheapset alternative solution...

let us know about your progress...

Sorry. Did not log in for a while. If its not the correct engine, I hope you would be able to return it. I believe they will give you back your money. Anyway, if you need any help in getting another engine I would be glad to assist but no promises. I know one mechanic who deals with Chan Auto regularly. So hopefully they wont simply sell the engine without ascertaining its condition. I was told by my mechanic that the best is to get the engine direct from the half cut itself (the engine has not been dismantled). Preferably not when the engine has been taken off the body. If possible to check the mileage of the car and to look at the body of the car. That way you could find out why the car was written off. When we went to look for my engine, my mechanic looked at the oil seals. Soft oil seals mean that the engine is still in good condition. He also looked into some holes? I could see some is it piston or what I dont know and he said that the condition of the engine was very good.

I am happy with what I have got thus far and I am happy with what my mechanic at JT has done. The engine now is smoother and quiter than the one I had earlier.

By the way I asked my mechanic to ride it back to his hometown and to test it out for me. He told me from Duta toll to Gopeng toll he took 55 mins! That sort of gave me back the confidence of driving this car again! Car is great now but the engine warranty is only till this 22nd January!

Sorry to hear about your problem.

Ask your mech to check out what wrong with the engine. Maybe you can claim warranty on the engine from the supplier.
