i think it is very common many e60 5 series owner experience gear jerk & car knock in front before stop, right?I went to a few foreman shop, inclusive of bayern auto, happy motor & ultimate auto which are bmw specialist, all of them said need to replace valve tronic, gear box, megatronic, which is costing between RM4500 to RM12000.But the problem fix after I went Auto Bavaria to Reset the ECU, Adaptation & Transmission Control Unit and only cost me RM219.Thank GOD my car now in normal condition.

the lesson here is..even this ppl so called specialist, dont trust this monkeys..better to have honest mechanic then so called speciallist..maybe u should ask around which mechanic around ur area can be trust among our members here..

Like I've always said, don't trust the mechanic 100%. Do some research online ourselves too

luckily my 530 doesn't have this problem (yet anyway! touch wood!). But my E46 325i did. Reprogram made the problem go away for a while, but in the end, turned out to be gearbox failure. So hopefully yours is due to software. But if it comes back, chances are it's hardware so prepare for OUCH$$$$$

Hi Gordon,
is ur car CKD? I was quoted by AB labor rate of RM20 per minutes for recon unit. I think they r not keen to do recon unit though.
Mines is japan spec msport so far tip top condition. Anyone know their rate are standard nation-wide??

When they know your car is recon , they will not layan or at least tekan the price till you run far far away - the truth is they are not keen on re-cond unit . Unless you have insider.

I had experienced it in Sg Besi Auto Bavaria , which the salesguy at the desk was looking at computer monitor while talking to me .Thank god i was sober.

AB? Yeah, in my case they quoted me battery, brake pads and steering switch cluster for excessive white smoke emission... And mine is not even recon car.
