Booming and whining noises

When i go past 100kmh there is a clack, clack,clack sound from the front of my dash. Disappears after 120kmh. But by then the booming and loud whining takes over, a bit like going flat out on a C22 van with the windows shut!! I can also feel a high pitch vibration from the steering wheel. 1 mechanic say gear box, 1 say engine mountings, 1 say wheel bearings. Wtf??? I'll be broke if i have to change them all!! Btw, i bought mine a couple of months ago, a 1990 4 drs m40. Help needed pls from you all seasoned e30s owners!!

so.... you got 3 different answers from 3 different mechanic? I'd suggest you get 1 answer from 1 experienced mechanic...

i changed everyting that you have mentioned and much more when i bought mine. I suggest you do the same. Let mechanic show you the PROOF when he say this and that broken. If it really is due for changing, CHANGE!!!!

Not an experienced e30 owner..but you should go visit an experienced BMW mechanic.
Engine mounts and wheel bearings are not TOO prohibitive..

With that said..I don't know whats the problem with your e30. Sounds like many things are wrong. Your description isn't clear enough for an e-diagnostic.

so.... you got 3 different answers from 3 different mechanic? I'd suggest you get 1 answer from 1 experienced mechanic...

either that or allow one of these guys here to take your car for a spin.
