:top: Great debate we have here guys :top: Appreciate you guys keeping it cool and friendly :top: Plenty of thoughts and opinions for the MC to ponder and we thank you for this. I must admit that I have been anxiously watching this thread from the very start and its good that everyone manages to absorb and see each other opinion/suggestion/proposal very well :top:

Hope it will continue and remain positively constructive for the betterment of the club.

Kudos to you all ..... :top:

Bro Eric,
If a club guest post 660 in 6 mths it means he is using a lot of the club bandwidth and should be joining the club and paying in full. He can join the drive, TT or get together if he so wish, unlike members who are in East Malaysia who really cannot join us because they would have to ship their vehicles here , all he need to do is drive across the causeway to join us.

Should everything be reduced to dollars and cents???!!!

Where are our sense [pardon the pun]???

Seriously, there are times when I feel ashamed...

But nonetheless, it will always be the majority no matter what.

Wobbles - when you decide to join us as an OM, you know who to call.

I wouldn't build a school only if there are enough students, nor would I only build an airport only when there are enough passengers. Put the infrastructure, the foundation in place, then watch the process flow

Bro Wobbles,
Would you like to build a specialist/medical center in Endau Rompin? Please dont ask about the population or the number of patients you might get. JUST WATCH THE PROGRESS FLOW as you so rightly put it.

Mr. President, Vice-President & the respected Committee Members of BMWCM.

I thank all of you for your hospitality thus far, and for the kind generosity that your Club has extended me - a guest, a foreigner, who may not be all familiar with your customs and practices. As a Singaporean, I will apologize in advance if my postings in anyway, have offended your Malaysian sensitivities & sensibilities, as some of the insinuations from your members have taken me by surprise.

If for only RM300 (sing$120 est. US$100 est. Aus$80) to be a member of this OFFICIAL BMW CLUB with all the goodies worth more, yet still want to ask for discount then I think better join other clubs where need not pay any fees.

I don't ever recall having 'asked' for a discount. It's quite different proposing an idea for, IMHO, the greater good of Club & opening up the possibility of a different avenue of revenue vs. a personal plea for 'discounts'.

ay39;731207 said:
However, for a mere RM300-00 or S$120-00, you start to calculate (sic) what benefits you will lose because you are overseas, made me lose respect of someone who can afford to buy big car, big house but complains about having to buy a packet of peanuts.

Firstly, it wasn't a calculation, secondly, it wasn't a complaint, and thirdly, my suggestion about overseas/affiliate membership had nothing to do with either! I fail to understand - Country Clubs here have an associate membership for potential full joinees, Professions like Medicine & Law have associate membership for medical students or law pupils, or even fellow professionals from other countries - pending these same professionals joining as full members. My suggestion, gentlemen, was to open up a potential portal for a greater number of potential joinees - and I'm quite taken aback that ay39 would put these insinuations in what was an honest, sincere suggestion.

Then, of course, the other official members showed their true colors by hopping onto the bandwagon. Your ex-VP, t2ribena, sarcastically posted that I should ask for a waiver for the joining fees, or be inducted by invitation.

t2ribena;731159 said:
wait we got a provision for HONORARY membership which is free, so maybe the comm can extend the invitation to him, but make sure he is qualified la in the first place...kkakakakaka

t2ribena;731216 said:
"However, there is a provision in the constitution under Clause 9.6 whereby the committee can waive your entrance & subscription fees. May I recommend you this route."

At the end of the day, whether I join or not is a matter of dollars or cents (some of the members here have rightly insinuated - what is RM300? It is less than a tankful of petrol for a hungry F02). It will depend on whether I derive a sense of belonging to this Club through the Forum or not. Unless, of course, there's a remark in the constitution that guests cannot offer suggestions, or ideas from guests are automatically resigned to the trash bin, or guests from Singapore are not welcome – or, how about this: 'wobbles' from Singapore alone is unwelcome - otherwise, as far as my reading and understanding of Internet Forums go, I have as much as right to voice my opinion as lamoo, t2ribena & the other official members here have to object to it.

And, if this is the kind of welcome I get as a guest (from some of these more, shall we say, vocal dissenters amongst the official members), I wonder how that would suddenly change after I paid my fees and have my nickname transformed into blue?

I merely put forward my point of view, and I appreciate some of the feedback the members have given. The hallmark of cordial discussion and intelligent debate is that the proposal is attacked, not the proposer. Unfortunately, that is sorely missing in some of the more, shall we say, enthusiastic official members of the Forum.

I'm sorry I've taken up your bandwidth, and I'm sorry I've wasted your time.

This shall be my last posting on your excellent Forum. I wish all of you the very best, and I thank you for your erstwhile hospitality once again.

Sincerely yours,
wobbles

hahaha...i thought one could take it but at the end sulking and sobbing because some of us share what we think about the proposal but it was taken as personal attack...furthermore one fail to even understand where does the "waiver" post comes from by accussing me to suggest you getting waiver...

anyway since you bidding farewell to this forum, i wish you all the best...i hope one could hold on strongly to his own words...

Guys, what the?

I thought he was posting quite excellent ideas, and sincerely wanting to join the Club. In all the wording and posting, whatever meaning that has been lost, the main idea was for him to legally join the Club.

As it is now, the Club is quite closed and there are no avenue for him to join the Club since Constitutionally an Official Member has to be a Malaysian.

I quite enjoyed his postings, I'm sure there are others that can agree to that. Now we have probably lost a true enthusiast in the forum for no valid reason. Bro wobbles, if you're still reading this, know that there are others that are with you on this!

Sorry for the ramblings, but I just don't understand why the need to shoot him down? Why all the negativity?

Dear wobbles,
The OMs of BMWCM are a closely knitted lot. Your earlier postings thanks us for the healthy debates, exchange of ideas, but suddenly you now say that our postings are insinuating. Please read your own postings over and over again, as you now contradicts yourself much further.

I agree with haywire. Honestly, I thought Wobbles was sensible in his postings.
Anyway, sometimes such "drama" keep the excitement going :burnout:

This guy can buy two car within a blink of his eyes and post his pictures of his rides together with his rolex watch and complain that membership fees is "steep" for him as he is consider an "overseas" member. Look into his earlier postings, this guy have relatives, probably in laws in Malaysia, and I am sure he understand our culture better. He is trying to teach T2 about value and & costs and you guys still don't get it?

In the Sg forum under the 6 series forum, when a forummer extend an invitation for a get together for the 6 ers, this guy ask whether NEW 6 series owner can join ah? What do you guys think of this question. To me it's simply HOW LIAN.
Fellas, this guy think we Malaysian are idiots, can't read porper english, can't differentiate between value & cost, don't have more than 2 BMW in our household, have not seen a rolex ( grandson model) in our entire life. Please lah, would someone close to him please fly or drive across the causeway and tell him how we malaysian live our life.

T2,

From his earlier postings, since he is so passionate, I actually was looking forward to him joining our drives or official TT as a club guest and perhaps even welcome him with our club goodies to show our friendship and brotherhood across the causeway until he made a
cheapskate of himself.
Now I understand, he is passionate about showing his things to us, but not SO PASSIONATE when come to joining BMWCM club.
I rest my case, tired lah.

With all due respect guys, I believe every one who has engaged in this debate understands well what each one of us is putting forth of one's opinion, be it an OM or CG. Its just that some would dwell deeper than others that chooses to see the positive side to a discussion and make it short and simple.
Indeed we are closed knit but at times, reminding each other to abstain is better than to further engaged in discussion that may lead to destruction.
You made your point, he made his and we make ours, so be it :top: ... Always be positive and we shall see the light of comradeship and respect that comes with it. Apart from teaching our loved ones (braders, sisters, our children and our children's children and wht not) there is always a limit for us to "educate" other people. We are not kids anymore and whatever we try to do to make others to understand our point of view, it will never be enough.

When it come to the Forum guys, pls spare some thought for the club first, then the OMs, then the CGs and then only ourselves above all else and always stay positive .... we will not go wrong that way .. :top:

I believe this topic of discussion has served its purpose and lets not dwell into it any further, lets give ourselves a break ... :top: ....
