The problem with initial target of 2012 is it was decided without consulting the refineries operators. Politicians will just come up with a number to satisfy the crowd when the issue was a hot debate. Revamping an oil refinery to produce Euro 4 compliant is not a simple tweaking here and there of the process plant alone. Currently oil and gas projects are peaking up all over the world with limited raw material supply, shortage of skill manpower and economically not an attractive venture to go into as business owners of these refineries. Having sour crude from middle east only makes it even trickier and more expensive so 2014 can be quite a tall order to achieve.

I think many can clean or replace the injectors but no one would be able to reprogram the ECU in order to "localise" the car. There are many grey diesel cars that are stucked in East Malaysia. If you want to buy a diesel car, buy from authorised dealers or else just be prepared to keep replacing injectors and DPF till 2014 when the local diesel meets Euro4 standard.

so, the authorised dealers will keep track of the wear and tear of the injectors?
btw, what are the normal stuff / upkeep of a bmw diesel? sorry i have no clue abt the bmw diesel...

Bro! Mine 530D Year 2004 are from Auto Bavaria & i just brought it from use car dealer! that car actually are BMW Malaysia official car & recently let go........

Do this mean this car was tune for local condition...?? as i just book the service at Glemarie........as told by the customer service that car stop sending to AB service centre since 2009.......!!
