Well, don't wanna go for more than 300k for the car... possibly lower than that. Coz I can use the extra money to upgrade CCC, servicing, new rims & tyres + body kit... lol!!!!

astroboy - point taken... lol!!

Latest addition - my dad suggested to get the new Merc C230 Kompressor Avantgarde instead of a 3-year old Beemer... price almost the same. Anyone who would like to share the view here???

Bro, BEnz C230 don't have kompresseor, C230 is V6 engine~!!! only C200 got kompresser~! C230k is a nice car but BMW 525i is even better, you should test drive both car C230 and BMW 525i to copare each other, which car is much suitable for your taste, if for bussiness use I with go for BMW 525i sport:top:~!!!

Get a late 07 or 08 5 series and you'll enjoy the package that bmw malaysia has to offer.

If your worried about maintenence, wear and tear, servicing. Well heres the good offer:

Free brake pads, Free brake discs, Free drive belts, Free oil changes, Free filters, Free scheduled inspections. for three years or 60,000Kms whichever comes firsts.

My bro drives an E60 525i M-sport and he doesnt have to worry about anything so much. He uses the car as a daily horse, even for outstation and he does rack up mileage. So if mileage goes past 60K and its not under warranty anymore and your scared because of maintaing the car then sell it.

Best bet get a new model, with the servicing and maintenence package then u dont have to worry so much.

The C230 V6 Avantgarde is a good little nippy car. But he's regretting getting the car. He said the fuel consumption isnt great at all, his 04 E46 325 was better as he said. But hey at the end of the day its up to the individual, we can only share our advice and personal experiences and what we know.

Good luck on deciding mate.

If C230, then I suggest u test the 325i as well because they both belong to the same car segment "Executive Saloon". One big noticeable drive feel is Merc steering is a lot lighter and if you are a BMW enthusiast, its a big no no because we call it lack steering feedback feel.. I personally hate the Merc squarish dash design... make me feel old.. :D

I know all about the 2 years free maintenance from BMW... but bear in mind that I have budget which is under RM300k... the best model I can get with this kind of money is only 2006 model...

Wow... I didn't know that there are so many hardcore beemers around here... thank you all for the opinions. Personally, I actually prefer E60 compared to Harrier...

As a matter of fact, I am concerned of the long-term maintenance cost for the E60. I have read some of the postings here that the cost can go up to RM10k per year... engine oil & filter (10k interval), gear oil, brake pad, etc... including tyres?

My scenario is that I have to travel between KL and Pahang every weekend (as my wife's in KL while my factory is in Pahang)... so the odometer can clock 40000km easily every year. I am just afraid that the parts are easily damaged by my frequent driving... any opinions on that? Have anyone heard that the new 5-Series will roll out in early 2009? Should be launched this year end in Europe before hitting our shore next year.

with the heavy travelling i recommend u to get the harrier since u are concern on the maintenance costs...

i have the same travelling pattern and with the e60...hurting the pocket very much...so far every year more than rm10k maintenance...tyres already more than RM5k for non-RFT and if RFT then about RM7k++...heavy travelling also stress on the control arm especially the front...cost 3 to 4k to replace in SC...and many more...

with the 525i M-Spok there is no way u can be sleepy while driving it coz it is bumpy...and every bumps goes into ur spine so there is no chance u can doze off...haha

if i can choose again then i will go for camli or hallier for work travelling and the 525 m-spok for weekend drive or bmw club outings...of course by saying weekend drive is not to shopping mall or etc but to JJCM in Melaka or Kuantan or Ipoh :top:

layman's answer would be 'huh...then pointing to the head and make circular motion with the finger'

hehehe...

Why not? Its bloody comfortable & quiet & makes you sleepy!:top::top: My E39 M-Sport is bloody uncomfortable.

You see... I am driving a Toyota Altis for more than 5 years now. Since all my partners are changing cars... I might as well do the same. There are 3 of them... and they go for Mazda CX9, Toyota Estima 3.5 Aeras S & Honda Odyssey respectively... all either big SUV or MPV. But I am not ready to go into that stage yet... even though the maintenance cost for those Japanese cars are cheaper compared to European marque.

That is why I am planning to sell off my Altis... buy a smaller national car such as Kenari or Kelisa which is under RM20k region for my daily travelling at my workplace... maintenance cost will definitely be cheaper this way and won't hurt my wallet that much :) and only drive to KL on weekends.

By the way, control arm as in the Active Steering or what?? Sorry still need to get used to BMW jargons here... he he he!

I know... but I need something to elevate my status :top:

Call me kiasu but most of them are getting cars in the region of 200++k... so I have to fulfill my dream and obtain this dream car of mine

Thule, would you be keen on an E280 Avantgarde with 12 months of warranty left from Mercedes Malaysia? Let me know if you are keen.

The Harrier is a very comfortable car, you choose to go that way, get the 3.0 or the newer 3.5.

I say this car looks more class than van like estima odyssey

Wise words here -> BMWs are better built than Toyotas. Drive, feel, safety, reliability, durability, technology, engineering, precision between E60 525i and Harrier absolutely and completely different. There are always rumours or news by many people about any sort (all soft) of cars anyway. If you love BMW, get it, but get it with some good advice. Get the car (either recond or AB approved) checked first by a specialized BMW mechanic. I use 2 mechanic shops (M-Speed in USJ and (Turbo Power in Kuchai Lama) because of convenience sometimes and pricing. Both very good BMW mechanics with more than 10-15 years doing BMWs. There are many others around also and many are equally good. They'll tell you what are the key things to look out for. Nego a good price and enjoy a BMW. Comparing BMW with Toyota, is like comparing a private jet to a propeller plane. My choice is always the BMW as I've been using one the last couple of years and a real joy to drive. I've used many brands of cars (Proton, Mazda, Honda, Citroen, Peugeot), BMW is THE BEST. All cars need regular up-keeping and I find that the good European makes last longer in the service and maintenance. As to your list of "myths", so far, I've not come across any nor heard from my other BMW owners friends. So... you decide.
