Ride quality on the F10 seems ok with RFT, so I'm probably the 1%...

but its not time yet to change yr tyres, Ken...when the time comes, you will join the 99% too.

Did you keep a spare tyre or repair kit? There is no space in the F10 boot for spares.

Group order for space/weight saving spare on F10

Hi guys,

I just got my F10 and changed my rims to 19" non-run flat. I felt worried that there is no spare and went online to look for solutions and I found this thread. I would like to join the group purchase if it is still on. Perhaps we could have a cut off date if it is not too late for me.

Interested to have group purchase :

1)manjohari
2)tehyw
3)holdbreaker
4)Eclipse
5)jeremykoh

Thanks

Most of us would keep a tyre repair kit - some of these kits come quite well equipped: sealant, compressor air pump, even the sticky "glue sticks" that can help repair side wall punctures which sealants alone cannot.

I swapped my F02 runflats out when I upgraded the rims to to 21" 312, so I am now carrying a Slime tyre repair kit just in case.

I'll probably be keeping the runflats on my F13 as I've already spec'ed the car to come with 20" 373M style rims - runflats are EXPENSIVE to change, and apparently, the 3rd gen. runflats are superior in ride quality when compared to the earlier versions that first appeared in the E60.

bro,
what's 'sticky "glue sticks"' ?

Are these "sticky glue" / "Slime" / "Mobile cement" etc really usable in the real world? I'm just asking because if I have a nail puncture, then sure, I believe it would work fine. But if I have a side wall rupture (about say 2cm long), I am sure there is only that much it can do to patch up right? Just wondering if you guys out there which have swapped out the Run Flats and changed to normal tires really drive around with these items (+air pump) and not carry a spare? I need the confidence to do so :)

Hi jeremy,

It's one of those situations that you hope never crop up - but, it's better to have & not need, than need & not have.

Anyway, I did some reading on the sticky glue sticks - apparently, they are NOT ABLE to repair side wall ruptures either - only the tread punctures. Looks like a spare is still the best option, if you want 100% protection.

Bro manjohari, I'll come up with the picture soon - probably this evening :)

I was told by the AB sales girl that they sell the tyre repair tool kit for approximate RM800+. I've not enquire further as I do not need it now.

OK bro manjohari, as promised, I finally found time to snap the Slime repair kit (the full version) in my boot:

It comes in a canvas bag, and when opened:

Those 'rubber glue sticks' are the things you see packed in the plastic bag, at the bottom of the picture.

Hope that helps.

aiseh.. thought in singapore.. :D
i'm buying separately here, can find the slime liquid only at Ace hardware...

I borrowed my friend's Audi A4 weight saving spare (approximately the same size I guess) and fitted it into my boot. It takes up a lot of space. I guess if I can make a stacking kit for it, then I can still put stuff on top of it. Anyone still interested in buying the spare?

I paid for and am waiting for the original BMW space saver spare tire for f10. bought it from AB Glenmarie. Comes complete with cover, tools etc. 2.2k or thereabouts. 3 weeks to bring in from Deutchland.
