Hi all, Anyone experience oil leak in yellow color underneath your car? The quantity is not much (just like 50ml), but it leaks randomly, sometimes once in a week, twice in a week or etc.It doesn't look like engine oil to me, will that be gear oil or something? It leaks a bit left under the engine area, very oily but not sticky. So far, no warning/information light comes up from the instrument panel. Please advise. Thanks.

Hi bro..

Yellowish is the color of our ATF, do check ATF oil pan underneath. .good luck

Yes. As per choq mentioned , if yellowish in colour it is an ATF.Do check your ATF level. As for my case, it happened after my complete ATF service. Retightening the ATF oil pan will solve it.

Thanks Choq and FIRZ67, appreciate the help. Sorry I am a bit noob on mechanical side, is ATF stands for Auto Transmission Fluid?

And may I know how to check the ATF level and where is the oil pan to be re tighten?

Thanks.

Yup ATF is Auto Transmission Fluid. As for me to check the ATF level , it need to be done by a mechanic since you may need to jack up the car level and check from undercarriage when engine is running. Need to open a cover under a mechatronic module to check it. The ATF oil pan can also be tighten by them.

which 325 you are having ? e36 or 346 or e90 ? for e36 if is a 4 speed gearbox then the atf should be red in colour , if your car is 325 e46 then the zf gearbox oil for 5 speed is yellowish like engine oil when is new . e90 no idea yet ...

The posting is made in E90,E91,E92,E93 thread, so we had to make certain assumptions.. :)

must be the gear oil, had the same issue. had the oil and pan changed. problem solved. the pan alone cost almost rm400.
