I bought a used 525Msport 2006. there is a blue tooth icon but I am unable to access it. Is this come as standard item? I was told by one of the shop here that I need to connect my phone to a cable which come with my car. In fact, I don't see any cable that I can connect my phone to. Any idea where I can get it? Appreciated your advise..

I tried to enable it but not able to activate it. It is like without hardware (only software). any idea where I can check on this?

you need to enable the bluetooth on your I drive.... then use your hand phone to search for bluetooth devices....

go to the phone settings in you idrive, activate the bluetooth.

activate your phone bluetooth, then search for bluetooth devices on your phone.

when search is complete on your phone, ur phone will show all the visible devices.

choose your idrive bluetooth device icon on your phone, it will appear to be something like this "bmw12345", then follow the instructions on phone and idrive screen to pair and accept the pairing.

Yes Sir, I try to go into I drive and found the blutooth icon. However, I cannot "check" it to activate. That is the main problem now. Wonder the hardware already gone!

Go to communication first on the Idrive, then press on Bluetooth and it should say activate phone.Make sure your phone is not locked on some security settings.Don't forget to activate the bluetooth on your phone either. It ought to be there man.Give it a while for it to show up

Thanks. I think it did not work. I will send for checking on the next service.

tested by a mechanic, it is confirm not working ! if anyone know where I can repair it for decent price?

Chanbc,in the 1st place does the car come equipped with Bluetooth capability?

chanbc: It is supposed to be working.

It worked when i bought the car but i never used it frequently since day 1 (March 2006).

Worried about privacy when other ppls in car and the name calling pops up on the idrive. Dangerous.

But its definitely working as i would play with it every now and again to show off my cars capabilities. :)

Dont know what happened after i sold the car.

Chanbc,I think it's best you get the car reprogrammed all over again...something ain't right and I get this feeling it's the software

I got the same problem. One year old car had that bluetooth connection problem. Was told a part called 'ULF' needs to be replaced. Lucky it was under warranty. It took one hour to replace and 5 hours to reprogram.

The bluetooth module for my 523 e60 is damaged too. Anyone know where to get a cheap replacement? AB wants RM2.5k for the module. :(

Hi starwing,

I had the same problem yesterday when i took delivery of my car. First it was ok, then suddenly cannot connect anymore. The service manager at Iktikadraya reprogrammed the computer or whatever it's called and now ok. Charges not sure because mine i bought the car from them.

:listen: maybe you can take starwing and chanbc to your service manager and help them sort this one out :listen::top::top::top:

I have seen a 2007 car with iDrive and the Bluetooth icon but was not able to check it. After numerous tries, the dealer confirmed that the model does not come with the Phone prep (Bluetooth feature) as stadard.

The Bluetooth feature is optional and needs to be activated by the dealer. It may involve a hardware change.
