Hi Guys,Just a few question for BMW owners who have official iPod module installed. I understand that the installation option for iPod interface module for the current E60 (525i Sports), the 6 CDC will have to be removed. So does it mean that I can swap the iPod module and be able to use the 6 CDC cartridge again? Or is the iPod module is permanent installation?Secondly, would the iPod module works with the current generation of iPods like the Touch and iPhones?Thirdly, there is a limited number of songs/music (250) playback on the module, is that correct?Btw, does the bluetooth connectivity works with bluetooth music devices like iPhone or Sony MP3 players besides connecting to standard bluetooth phones?Hope to get some advice. Thanks!DavidW

hi i got my 325 sport with idrive and installed the ipod. Our system should be roughly the same.

1. Once the ipod interface is installed, the Cd changer will not be functional. It's like they are using the same single port available.

2. I am connecting a 160GB ipod classic with 28000 songs. In the idrive screen, the CDC will be showing the ipod interface as below:

a. CD1: playlist
b. CD2: artist (only first 255 artist, so you may not be able to see Vivian or U2)
c. CD3: Album (also limit to first 255 albums)
d. CD4: genre (there are less than 255 genre in this world, but i haven't tested how many songs per genre it can display)
e. CD5: N.A>
f. CD6: displaying all songs (i can see my entire 28000 songs here)

set the itunes with playlist and use CD1. you can have all the song listed in your ipod. and try to use lossless encoder file format. slightly bigger files then MP3 but sound quality is match the original CDs.

Instead of ipod module, there is also a factory installed USB port cum aux in. However, i am not sure whether it is available 4 CKD model. All CBU model can spec in tis option.

Thanks guys for the advice. Decided not to opt for iPod interface for now. I still like CDs though I'm limited to the number of songs.

Understand that in coming months there is a new promotion coming up for BMW accessories, maybe then I will consider. :)

DIYed my own iPod interface bought at AB but afta installation the iDrive could not detect the iPod MOST so have to send the car in for the retrofit programming...since my car is on the latest I-Level it took only 30mins for the programming...

afta that works fine...

sound quality is much better than the CDC but this subjects to the quality of the source file unlike CDC even if it is on ori CD the bass is kinda flat...

simple but enjoyable upgrade... :p

P/S I also realize that after a few projects on my car, the e60 contains alot of electronics part and switches made by the Japs...the iPod interface is made by Alpine in Japan, the CDC as well by Alpine Japan, the M5 paddle shifters by ALPS Japan and many more stuffs...feels like Japs car...hehehe

the interface is the best thing in the car. f$#% cd's.. it's so 90's..
