schwepps.. no lar... of course i stop la and shift the gears.
Just acquire BM second hand one.. so i not sure proper SOP mah.
There is some delay (a few seconds) when shift from N to R before gear engage, so i asking normal or not....

Just pulling your leg lar, no offense huh? :D

1. A delay is not normal and as ALBundy says, it's a sign that something's starting to go. Engagement should be immediate for both D and R, like in a new car.
2. For quite a while now, all auto-shifts require stepping on the brakes before shifting into D or R, unless they don't want to get into the US market. I believe it's an EU requirement too.

aaaiyah.... no offense lerr.

Well.. going to have it check out and see how la.
Actually am saving up to do a convertion to stick next year..... looks like it i may need to push up my schedule soon.

Thanks for the advice.

let me look for the bill... it's in KL. Once i get it back I will post it here. If I'm not mistaken with full service and Tranny (not use to using this word, in Australia it means transvestite) it cost me RM 780.

The symptoms I got was delay when shifting N to R as well as N to D. Most ppl said time to rebuild the transmission box. Went to woks shop expecting to pay 5K. Good ol mach said he'll check first and found that the switch is faulty. I do not know if there is a setting on the switch or he changed the switch, cause I did not see any switch, but the cost of the ( whatever he did ) was negligible. But if your normal driving is ok ( no disk slipage and no hesitance in gear change, then most likely it's the switch.

Wish you all the best and hope it's nothing major.

Cheers

Bro, I had quite a similar problem before. When I braked immediately (in either D or R), there was a slight delay before the tranny went back into gear. I thought it was normal. After about 6 weeks, the problem worsened and caused me to replace my tranny.

I think you better bring it to a gearbox expert before it burns a hole in your pocket even deeper.

I got a perculiar problem also.
There is a delay & slurr when auto changing from 2nd to 3rd. It seems to go to a neutral state before engaging into 3rd. At that moment, it will rev up.
It's been like this since I bought the car a few years ago. But other then that, nothing wrong with performance, except during cold, the gearchange is a bit violent..maybe time to change box? Btw, my autobox is a JATCO 5 sp. 180K km now...

The important thing in a gearbox is the oil. Make sure you chnge the oil regularly and change the filter too, 10 k is a good time to change oil. This will ensure your box last longer. I'm at 298K and touch wood, gearbox still holding up. Then again, i do lots of outstation.
