Auto gearbox- overhaul vs used one

My M40 auto box kaput already...it running smoothly when cold but free gear (no D or R) when hot (traffic jammed) Should I overhaul the original auto box or should I find a chop shop one?..Fyi, its hard to find a used autobox for M40..most are for M20..

Overhaul by a knowledgeable workshop is the best option for you will be assured all worn out parts will be replaced. Used ones from chop shops.....why take the unnecessary risks with unknown conditions?

thanks Herbert..do you have any "knowledgeable workshop" in mind?..most of people I had asked prefer used one rather than overhauling, mainly because of poor workmanship..i.e using 'used' part as 'new', same or new problem occur after overhauled etc..etc..and the price are not cheap...
