Newbie here!Got a used BMW (z4) last month, thinking to do a full service. The shop is recommending me to use LIQUI MOLYWanna find out if this is a good engine oil, and what is the recommended engine oil for BMW? gota ask cuz car doesnt come with service manual/booklet :| Thx in advance

Personally I have used Liqui Moly products on my Golf last time, it was a real improvement over the stock castrol which I got at the Service Center. Currently using their Ceratec and Diesel Injector Cleaners but waiting for my BSRI to stop so I can use their Liqui Moly engine oil. So far good experience with this brand.

Modern engines are becoming ever harder on the oil that lubricates them. As engines and oil sumps have gotten smaller reducing the volume of oil the engine holds, performance enhancing additions like turbo changing have become common.

I use Voltronic fully synthetic which petrol/diesel compatible, my car is a diesel type, one of the feature that caught my eyes is the excellent fuel economy and my car average fuel consumption 5.4L/100km.

First time on Liqui moly too.. Engine oil temp runs cooler

In my last oil change I used Amsoil Signature Series 0W-30 fully syn for my 325i. Engine response better compared to Mobil 1 Gold, Shell Helix Ultra or Castrol Edge. Hopefully can clock at least 7000km without needing any top-up of oil.

Anyone use this Rev-1 engine oil before? Looking to try this...

Good luck on trying the Rev1 ... Do let us know on the outcome.

The demo doesn't prove anything ... i remember driving my hyundai without oil for a good few weeks without wrecking the engine lol

Is Rev1 a true fully synthetic oil? Does it meet the latest API ratings which is SN?

I just changed oil to Liqui-Molly. First 300Km, dont feel anything. After that, I can feel the engine is quieter, smoother and more power. Previously using Ravenol which is more expensive but now will continue with Liqui-Molly as I feel it is more value for money.

Liqui Moly stuff are good and are very highly rated especially in Germany (well, it is a German company). But more expensive compared to other brands in the market. I'd use it for my UDM.

1) I put in Shell Helix Ultra fully syn during the last oil change for my E36 and noticed that the oil sump started leaking. Not sure what the old oil is. When I searched more on the net, it does happen when changing to fully syn as it's less viscous and perhaps with more additives and cleaning properties, its cleaning off all the deposits which have sealed the sump??? Or it could just be due to the age of oil sump gasket (based on the age of E36s nowadays). Nonetheless, it could be either. What do you guys think??

2) Another thing, it's been almost 3 years since the last oil change as the car has barely moved 7,000km??? And we always see 5,000km or 6 months or WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. Should I change the oil despite it not moving and based on the age???

3) But apart from that, i'm using Shell Helix HX7 which is semi-synthetic (with synthetic technology? as written on the bottle) for my daily driven Waja. Just wondering at what interval should I get the oil changed??? Usual mix of daily town driving, stop and go, traffic jam, highway during the weekend to go back home etc. I'm just about breaching 6,000 since the last change. Can't rely too much on the colour of the oil and no idea what a mechanic is trying to tell by rubbing the oil with his fingers. What do you guys think???
