It's not normal.. I have similar problem with my E60 2 years ago. It's the compressor problem.. Time to change and if you think OEM unit it too expensive.. There's Denso compressor thar you can consider.. My friend has change one and he's a happy man

So I go to ac shop say wanna change the expansion valve can solve the problem? Heng not the fan. Heard new is rm2k++

Dear Vincent.. I'm currently at Dubai now and just saw your message. Air cond compressor is only one.. But different brands. If original BMW of course expensive and that's why there's alternative like Denso. You can check with the workshop coz I'm no expert as I have sold my car last year

I went to the 2nd shop next to coffee shop near Petron at the round-about in SS 14 Subang Jaya. This is after reading a posting here made by someone in 2009.

Been driving my 2007 525 MSport UK Spec since 2009 and never serviced or done anything to the Aircond. Finally last month it was blowing out hot air!

Took to the shop. Attended to by Guan. Kena 1850 for new denso compressor, 950 for new Condensor and 250 to flush clean entire Aircond system. Total 3050. They took about 2-3 hours to do. Looks pretty straight forward job. Was told 1 year warranty on compressor and 6 month on Condensor.

I'm quite happy actually considering pretty fast service, and only first time Aircond problem in the last 5-6 years.

Thank you to all who have posted and given tips here. Appreciate it.

Any experience on the long last after change the expansion valve??
Bro...

If u have lots of $$$, then go change to new compressor lah. But if ure in tight budget, like me, go and have the control valve checked and replaced.

I had mine replaced in mid of 2013. Cost me RM650. About 2 hours job. And my 523i E60 a/c is still freezing cold.

Same here for my E90. Changes control valve at SSG Salak South for RM650 all-in. No need to change whole compressor.
