since my e30 radio cassette player can only play radio & cassette and changing to new cd/mp3 player would cost me another 300++ min for decent player. furthermoe i have to burn cd each time i downloaded new mp3 song from the internet. troublesome huhhh.... so i decided to add an aux input to my old kenwood cassette player.with aux input, i should be able to plugin cheap mp3 player (cpst less than rm50) or expensive one like ipod etc.also with the au input, i should be able to plug my stereo bluetooth handsfree wic i bought for +-rm150 to the player and turn the whole car as a cheapo bluetooth handsfree car kit.the concept to change the cassette/radio player to add aux input is simple. first u need the old earphone cable, cut the both end of the ear piece. u need L & R cable to maintain the stereo. otherwise the input will be in mono. next, open up ur cassette player and just find the right ic that control the radio (am/fm) or cassette or even cd input and resolder the both end of the wires to the right pin. you can google the detail on wer to solder the wires to the ic. i choose the input from the cassette, but u could also choose the input from the AM radio.in my case, i just solder the cable directly to the ic pins. ths mean i have to built myself a dummy cassette or blank cassette the only the input from the aux can be processed by the cassette player. by doing so, i can still use my casste player if i want. the dummy cassette u can build easily by removing the magnetic tape and tie a rubberband to link the side A-B. so each time u slot the dummy cassette in, the casstte will rotate foreverwithout the need of you to change side. anyway below are some picture for general idea. one of my best mod so far:top:
