Active steering problem which couldnt solve , help bro ! LCI 525i

hi all pro bros

i have an active steering malfunction , when it appears , my steering very heavy.

ISTA error message : hardware error
CARLY error message : front steering central control time out

i have do some service
1. clean the steering rack , found a lot dirts inside and clean up

2. ecu control unit under driver seat , clean using cleaner (spray)

3. front steering rack no leaking

4. front steering rack have 2 sensor and clean it

5. ecu control unit (under driver seat) , send to SEONG HOE BMW , they said not the ecu problem

6. change new battery of 100ah cca500

7. reprogram the steering setting




all these staff had done and takes me 2weeks to do ... problem still APPEARED ! cannot solve.

when the active steering malfunction mesaage out ?
1. when i juz start engine in P mode , after 5minits, 30minits , sometime restart few time , it come out message also

2. when i turn left , turn right, centre . after run 100meter, it came out again.

3. sometimes no appeared, after 1hour drive , off engine and on back , it appeared again !



can any sifu giving any opinion ? i had send to 2 different workshop (2weeks) , they not even can settle , 1 ask me change ecu , another 1 ask me change the whole steering rack which cost me 20k.
i really have no idea on it .

could anyone help me on this mattered ?. tq so much

Mine was ECU under the driver seat problem, that time water leakage & wet the ECU, put under hot sun for 2 hours, dried up, no problem appear after clear the fault code, i believe is ECU problem, coz the message appear intermittent, not stagnant...

u r so lucky , mine even break out and clean all the chip . still the same problem. they ask me to buy the ecu and try. my worried is, if after changing ecu problem still assit ?

bro...have you googled "e60 steering angle sensor"...?

I have read thru a few experiences from foreign forums about them cleaning the steering angle sensor and disc with good results.
The disc and sensor is in the steering wheel.

I had to change the whole steereng rack because there was a leak inside. Cost me RM4k plus labor for a half cut part.

finally the problem solved . is my ECU kena water . change then no problem at all . im from melaka and i drive to keramat BEEZY bengkel ... this guy is very very nice person . help me check one by one . he is very pro in active steering . 4 days in the workshop . i like his service . keep whastapp me all the status even 10pm still progress my car . appreciate.

ECU used i bought from other shop rm2300 + gst rm130 (damn government) . coding rm800 .
