Salam & salutations.Dear Bimmerians,I stay in Ampang and drive my BMW 525i E39 to Nilai for work on a daily basis. Lately I am having the following problems:-1. The acceleration is kinda sluggish if I go slow on the throttle pedal. On the other hand, if I floor down the pedal, it leaps off fairly quickly but then the rev counter keeps climbing up past 7000 RPM and the gear refuse to change to second (or change very, very late). To correct this I have to bring the car to a standstill and start over again but at the earlier mentioned sluggish pace;2. Occasionally when braking the whole car shudders and judders to a stop;3. Fuel consumption has been unusually high of late. The ABS and DSC lights have also been playing up but I am not sure if this has direct connection to the aforementioned problems. Reading through the forums there have been suggestions that either speed sensors, camshaft sensors and/or vanos seals could be the culprit. Is this correct or if not what other things should I look for?Appreciate your comments and inputs.Thanks.Cheers & best regards,Zaim Al-AminBMW 525i WXY 2005Group Legal AdvisorSigur Ros Group of Companies+60192082005 (Malaysia)+905492212005 (Turkey)

Thank you so much for your info sharing Bro. Actually am going to send the car to workshop tomorrow and at least I have an idea of what to expect. Just hoping that it's not more serious fault/defect like ABS pump or gearbox failure. Thanks again.

Zaim,

Check your plug coil packs we have 6 of them, spark plugs too when was it changed last. I have also heard from many owners when the fuel filter is clogged with sludge u feel the car very sluggish and fuel CF goes up.....check your long shaft propeller bush front and rear.
ATF condition. rest yes have been mentioned already to check and change after you get the pc plugged in than can see whats the error codes and faults.

Cheers

Dear Siva,

Many thanks for the additional info. I will ask my mechanic to check them as well.

Good to know that there are many E39 owners out there and helpful as well.

Regards,

Zaim Al-Amin.

Had a similar problem with mine. Pull felt sluggish, gear change some times sticky and some light shuddering past 90km/h.

In my case it was a torque converter problem.

Thanks Bro, looks like my mechanic would really have to do a proper diagnose, otherwise it would end up like beating around the proverbial bush and costing a tidy sum at that...
