ABS unit kapoot

Hello guys, Just replaced my ABS unit. The problem starts when I was on my way to Penang, the ABS and tractions signs came up. The speedometer shut down. Luckily manage to get back to KL without anything more serious. Went to Along workshop in Bangi and was charged $2800 for a secondhand abs unit. Is there any way we can find out, any signs before the abs unit go bust? At least I won't dare to travel once I know the signs. Regards

I change mine ....E36 325 @ RM400+RM100 labour........shldnt be so much different.........

One workshop along OKR quoted me RM4200.00 for a DSC unit.

I recently changed mine. RM3000 for brand new unit + installation. Done at one of the reputable and popular workshop at Kayu Ara. But i shopped around first before committing. Quoted between RM3000 to RM5000

DSC uses the same ccntrol unit as the ABS so yes, its also the ABS module.

Normally, the first indication would be lost of wheel sensors and just like what has been mentioned by 3er, the DSC would follow suit.

hi...has the same sindrom few month back. Speedometer out, l/km meter out, abs & asc warning light on. Check with my mechanic, it was abs sensor on rear left tyre . Purchase from 1st div for 300++ . Lucky for me it dont cost like a bomb.

Hey dude you should go for a brandnew set. You don't have to worry about it reaccuring again. I paid RM 3K plus brand new for mine and no headache and i know for sure that my ABS control unit will last another 5 years or maybe more. Reconsider maybe a little expensive but when you convert it into KM it not much.

And for you info the abs sensor on rear left tyre is one of the symtoms. It will reacurre after sometime. happen to me finally had to change the ABS controll unit.

Check out eurocarmotorsports.com in segambut. I think everyone get their replacement parts or First Division in Ipoh road.

The good thing is that it reminds me how much fun driving a bmw is without electonic driver aids. I get to appreciate the finely balanced (50/50) set up.

...it's interesting that when a BMW is sent for regular maintenance/servicing at a claimed 'authorised dealer/service center', the ABS units are not inspected until it's unfortunately, time to 'replace' them...

My ABS comes on and off. Sometimes it comes on when I start the car, sometimes while driving. Usually goes off after a few short rides (don't do much long distance driving). So far I did not feel any difference in my ride - when ABS light comes on or off.

Anyway I read that some of our brother's car slowed down and speedometer not working when this happened. Just wanna make sure that this does not happen - can someone confirm this is part of the "safety" feature? Have no plan yet to get this fix in the near future.
