Just came back from the chop shop.

They are able to transplant a M50B25 24V single Vanos with a Jatco tranny incl long shaft and rear diff for 10k. Also incl front and rear suspensions. Price includes workmanship and paperwork. What do you guys think?

There goes my "keep it original" idea :D
Don't be hurry....visit few others and i sure u will get better offer...At least i know where to get it......I personal felt M50B25 is the best for u since ur m20 oledi hit 300K.....Gearbox kong some more longshaft also kong....Change to M50 will make sure ur car can run without any problem for at least 5 yrs time....of couse hv to make sure the new engine condition is good and most important thing the workshop MUST...i say MUST be very good in the convertion.....Must be Bimmer specialist...Don't send to normal workshop bcos of the lower charges.....

:D

Bro apa tu tikus putih..the only ones I came across were the ones I dissected in Biology class...

7k for non-vanos transplant is reasonable- think this is only for the engine transplant and related to -as per pussy

but to get everything else inside as you mentioned earlier....gonna cost summore, let's hope your mentioning of 10k with the other stuff is gonna be honoured by the chopper else you are the one thats gonna get "chopped"

Now that I have replaced my ENTIRE suspension system. It's the gear box turn.

Initially when cold it wouldn't shift gears. Just stuck at first gear. Governor? Valve body?

After it's warmed up. The gear shifts normally. I replaced the ATF and strainer thinking that it might help. Now there's no reverse?! HELP! Has anyone have this problem and solved it?

Alternatively,

Anyone knows where I can find a good second hand gearbox with warranty?

Capkel, I have had similar problem before with the 4 speeder. Its a sign of things to come. Alternatively before you decide to change or rebuilt the slush box, bring it to a competent mechanic and check all the individual solenoids. If the solenoids are in working condition, then it more or less confirm that the pressure plates are worn off and the only way is to rebuilt or replace! Good luck!

Rgds
