I know it will make the car slow both pickup and top-end but am seriously considering to change the 16" standard rims with the m5 rims, purely for looks sake. the question is, how big are the rims? 17"/18"? also what tyre goes with them.am very blur about these sort of stuff. sorry if this is question has been asked before.

Same goes to me...will replace the stock 16" to the M5...and btw, the M5 ori rims are 19"

19" huh? wow....that's a huge increase from the ori 16".

wonder what the tyre size gonna be and how much it gonna cost.

yup, M5 rims are 19", i heard alot of ppl saying 520i is underpower, is that true? if yes, maybe u should consider 18" instead of 19". u can run all round 245/40/18 instead of M5 staggered setup of 285mm at the rear, its heavyyyyyyyy man

hi mouse, thanks for the info.

can't the rims be using 19" but 245/35/19 all around or 255/40/19 all around instead of a staggered setup?

as for it being underpowered. it depends on how one defines underpowered. low on power for 210kmh and above, for standstill pickup, if compared to what 525 can do, then yes it is underpowered. but i think its adequate for what i need.

No, u will querimony one day..

Ofcorse bro. if U replace ur original 16 to M5's 18 ur car will look very stunnings.
Many ppl say 520 underpower but it still comes back to the owner. eg.

Mr.A - previously own a 2.0 japanese car then now drive BMW520, he/she will fell the underpower. Why b'cos Japan car is much more lighter than continental car etc.
Mr.B - previously own Volvo and now drive BMW520, he will fell BMW520 is very powerful.

So, bro if U dont mind the little slow in the 'torge', "pick-up" the it should be fine.
I just got my 525i-JapanSpec 2 week ago - with ori rim 16 and also plan to change to 18 foe the look.
Hope it helps.

You really need to do some homework, not just swapping only!
Maybe it would rub the fender, what's the ET, negative or positive ET, would it rub the inner suspension, maybe M5 has more clearance for the bigger tire size, your speedometer may give different reading, out of the 3% range and such and so on!

I'm also planning to change my E39 M-Sport rim to E39 M5.
Did some homework first and I found,

OEM
235/45/17 8J FRONT ET20
255/40/17 9J REAR ET26

E39 M5
8J ET20 FRONT
9.5J ET22 REAR
In order to use this rim without having problem and accurate speedometer or at least not much differences, calculated the tire size and I should use
235/40/18 FRONT +0.3%
255 or 265/35/18 REAR -0.02% or +1%

Lastly, you have big rims but with small brake rotor ..

hi jack sorry to hijack ur thread a little but may i ask what is your top speed (at point of gearshift during full throttle) for 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th gear? i am drivin a 530i with 525i differentials and thinkin of changin to 520i differentials just for fun :)

IsaacVky, thanks for the info. Will bear that in mind and do the calculations.

ess530i, will try to take notice of the speed when it gearshifts and provide feedback.
