Hi Guys,Im driving the M54 325i and im facing some loss in acceleration here. I recently went to WP Auto to change my thermostat yesterday. During the process they removed my fan and re-install everything back after that. However, all of sudden the fan sound became loud and acceleration is not as same as before. My car's acceleration is no more fun even in the S mode. Albert said its normal, however i have to disagree with the nice chap because the acceleration is definitely not as same as before.BMW Gurus, please offer me some advise coz i'd really like to restore my acceleration power like before. tq

My suggestion is go bck to this workshop u mention and talk nicely with him.
And i believe there will be some solution.

If the engine is cold and the fan clutch is loud, it means that the fan is stuck.

The fan is suppose to spin faster only when the engine is hot. BTW, fan clutch seldom make loud sound. It could be the electric aux fan.

i reckon if the AUX fan is spinning fast then it would have no effects on my acceleration. Only the Clutch fan can have effects on the pick up. I'll go back to Albert tomoro. Im gonna have the clutch fan checked and probably change. AB people told me that my Clutch fan is spinning fast and its pulling my acceleration power. Thanx y'all

Bo,

Bimmer73 had almost similar problem with his e39 i.e aux fan spinning fast & loud & no power during acceleration. His aux fan was spinning fast within minutes after switching on air-cond. He checked with few workshops and some said temp of thermostat is lower (UK specs) thereby causing aux fan to spin faster, aux fax going to kong etc etc. Two days ago, he took his car to Naidu-under-the tree (BMW air-cond specialist) and detected that air-cond compressor was the cause of the problem. After replacement of new air-cond compressor, aux fan spin rate became normal and acceleration improved tremendously.

I've sent my car to Naidu 3 days ago to replace brand new compressor, receiver tank and micro filter. Spent $1850 for these parts to be replaced. My car was behaving like normal until the clutch fan was dismantled during thermostat replacement. I came across a forumer's conversation and his name is transporter. He had the same problem and resorted for a new clutch fan. I just wanna be certain before going for any part replacement. Tq so much gents. I'm still looking for more feedbacks.

not mistaken there is a speed selector at the clutch ...speed 1~3 .... could give it a check

Hey guys,

Thanx alot, my problem already solved. Just came back from WPP Auto. Albert changed my fan clutch to a new one. Thanx alot
