Hi all,I'm new here. Why do we need to remove DPF when using diesel in Msia? Any problem if you don't remove it?Thanks for the input.

try digging some info on this previously discussed issue on dpf here : http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/foru...ar/page27&highlight=diesel+particulate+filter

*quote from paultantk*

just some interesting facts for those who are wondering what DPF is http://alternativefuels.about.com/od/glossary/g/dpf.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diesel_particulate_filter diesel particulate filter filters out particulate matter from the exhaust. particulates = soot, the black dust that makes diesel smoke sometimes look like black smoke. what filters CO2 and NOx (i believe this is what you are referring to as "sulphur emissions") out of the exhaust gas is the catalytic converter, and all the diesel bmw cars in malaysia still has the catalytic converter.

Hi,

Went that topic before but I wonder if anyone doesn't remove it and car still going fine. My mechanic told me once, even euro4 can clog it if you drive slow such as in town. So he suggested that once in a while drive the car using low gear and high rpm just to clear the clog. This had happened when I dynoed the car and got better result from the first one after the guy revved on lower gear for a while.

I wonder if we could survive using the same solution in Msia. Know anybody using imported diesel car in Msia?

Thanks.

there's one doc bringin back in e92 320d 6speed manual with DPF still intact.that as far as i know.
the rest would be either x5 x6 (30d) owners which i dont know any at the moment.

you can dig up the 320d TT thread.the doc once joined for a TT in hartamas.
maybe docrayboy can assist you with this.

I think that's doc9802. I just saw a BMW X6 35d (twin turbo 3.0l diesel) on my way to work just now, that's definitely something different. I wonder what he/she did with the DPF or the need for ULSD for the engine...
