Hi guys,I am a newbie, I brought my car from the UK and apparently, there were issues I overlooked prior to bringing it back home, approximately 1 year ago. A week back all of the sudden, my car experienced loss of power. Googled about it and suspected the DPF, went to a workshop and got it diagnosed, back pressure errors were discovered. Had the darn DPF removed and got it deleted and remapped a couple o days back (costs a bomb). However, by doing so didn't solve the problem. The mechanic told me that i have to get my turbo sorted out -exhaust turbocharger issues cropped up. He told me that to replace the darn thing would cost about 9k......matiii woooo. Please I humbly beg all the sifus here, any suggestion on how to sort my problem without burning a hole in my pocket.Thank you for your timeJazak

i paid about RM2.2k (not sure the exact amount, but its around that ball park) to refurbish the turbo. I got the contact number from bro dzuljazz2001. If you want, i can try to find out the number for you. The guy was based in Kampung Melayu Subang (near Subang airport), however he was in the midst of moving when I last met him.

BTW other then no power, what other symptoms are you getting? A lot of things can cause loss of power, vacuum leak, faulty mass air flow sensor (in my case, the turbo just refuse to kick in,no matter how hard i press the accelerator). Common symptoms of faulty turbo (other then no power) include:-

1)Loss of engine oil, due to the turbo leaking (caused by the seals)
2)Whining sound coming from the turbo (could be caused by the shaft or bearing)
3)excessive white smoke (a bit is normal)

If I were in you position, i would ask the mechanic how did he come the conclusion that the turbo is faulty.

Thanks for your reply. Is the place called speed spin turbo? (its at desa pinggiran subang) My problem is similar to yours, the turbo just wouldn't kick in. I did change the mass air flow sensor a couple o days back as it was one of the faults came up, replaced the seals on the intake manifold too. One other fault was charged air pressure controller. I do hear a high pitch sound in the cockpit whilst pressing the accelerator. However I am unsure if it comes from the turbo. I've got a black smoke problem now. Care to shed some light further.

does the black smoke only come out when the turbo kicks in or is it constant? Have you cleaned the EGR valve before?

The turbo usually kicks in about 3k rpm, so if you hear the sound when the turbo kicks in, chances are it is the turbo.

I am not sure whether its the same shop or not, but the shop that I went to is run by a young malay chap.

It seems all the time, nope never done that yet. Will look out for the Izzat JK Auto shop. Must we disassemble the turbo first prior visiting his place? Thanks anyway, guys.

Check your vacumn hose, thts one of the main reason why the turbo does not kick :top: ..

Hi guys, its been a while since I've last logged on- thanks dzuljazz2001. Will look into the vacuum hose. I have replaced my turbo to a second hand one, however unfortunately, the car is still the same. I recently cleaned the EGR valve, still nada.... I am getting very frustrated with the car. I am at Kuantan at the moment, anyone could suggest me a good place to check out my car? Another thing I noticed recently is that the car has a rattling noise sometimes when I take off my feet from the gas pedal.

.

Try Prestige Garage @ IM14 or Kadir Bimmer Auto at Batu 3. PM me if you need more details ...

Cheers.

Have you tried replacing your diesel filter, clogged up filters will give such an effect too. Diesel turbines wont give way unless the fins are warped or bearing are worn.
